It seems that going on jihad to Syria or Iraq hasn’t proved quite the gap-year of fun and excitement that some young British Muslims perhaps thought it was going to be!
According to the Sunday Times the British Muslims have been given some of the most dirty, dangerous (or literally, suicidal) assignments in the war-zones to prove their commitment to the ‘jihad’ (and presumably to ‘punish’ them for being soft ‘western’ Muslims). Also the ‘jihad’ often includes fighting against other Muslim groups (who are also on ‘jihad’) which somewhat defeats the object.
I suspect that the accommodation also came as a bit of a shock too; shared rooms, no en-suit bathroom (or no bathroom at all), rubbish wi-fi connection (so you can’t even update your Facebook status to show ‘on jihad’), lousy signal on your iPhone and nobody to do your laundry for you…
…this is worse than college!
Still, it is only until you have defeated all the infidels (after you’ve defeated all those other deluded jihadist whose jihad isn’t as holy as your jihad, of course)…..or until you get killed.
At least you can go home whenever you like…..what do you mean they won’t let you come home?

Erm, gay virgins?
A 15 year old girl of Somali origin from my home city has gone of to join them and was last heard of in Turkey. I wonder what the silly cow will make of it if she gets there?
I should think squatting in a desert wiping her butt with a sand covered rag will soon take the shine off things, that and being used by a bunch of illiterate flea bitten foul smelling tramps / Isis fighters as a jihadi wife won’t exactly endear the country or cause on her either. That and her iPhone iPad etc will not work… I do hope the home office has cancelled her passport as well. She made her bed, now she has to lie in it…..

Anyway, I’m sure there is one of those typical religious catch-22 clauses; you know, like heaven is a perpetual paradise but you can’t go there if you commit suicide (unless you commit suicide doing something that we want you to do, obviously)!
You are probably right.
I wonder if there’s not an argument for allowing people who wish to live under such a strange system just head somewhere and do so, as long as they don’t mind the sodding great electrified fences, walls, minefields and various other machinery designed to take apart the human body that the rest of us will stick up around their “paradise” so that once in they are not leaving again.
I’d say Florida or perhaps Crimea would be suitable places? Alternatively North Korea might work quite well.

How many of them do it for the ‘virgin’ thing anyway? The article I read was talking about British jihadists wanting to come home because they’d become disillusioned with what they were expected to die for…
…particularly, Muslims killing Muslims (quelle surprise!), rather than a ‘jihad’ against the evil west! :rolleyes:

Could the Government not simply offer them the chance of becomng martyrs without having to go to all the trouble of sneaking off to the sandy places with all the hassle and discomfort that entails?
A simple one way trip off the white cliffs or other high point could easily be arranged. They could go in batches of like thinking chums.

Police time money and resources are being used to get her back. If she gets to Syria perhaps the USAF will resolve the situation.
