bring back the VC-10 I say ! 😀
Those were the days ..at least the Comets and the Viscounts and the VC10’s had a bit of character

I think the most interesting thing about the design is the wing, same goes for the A380.
Most modern airliners are so alike there’s not much to compare aesthetically… Even the new Embraer range look like little 787’s, bring back the VC-10 I say ! 😀

I really don’t know what you’re all raving about..it looks just like any other aircraft in that size range..it’s looks are nothing special and it just looks like a tarted up 767
Opinion, Steve. Opinion. 🙂

Have to disagree I’m afraid. Those cockpit windows look awful – yuk. Nice photo though.

What a beauty!
The only way to make ‘her’ better…add 2 GE90s! 😀

Are you serious? Do you know what a mockup is ? Is that a fake aircraft ? Not real construction materials? Not real engines ? Not real Landing gear? . A mockup is what we see of the F-35 going around , basically made of well to be crude cardboard and plastic.
Calm down mind your blood pressure, no, not really serious, hence the 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 :diablo:

Whether she’s flyable or not… She’s stunning. 🙂

Isn’t this plane basically a mock-up

I read an account saying that you could look inside the cabin when standing at the landing gear
You could see through and through from many angles , which i can confirm from my own eye witness accounts .
I do agree that the aircraft was a long way from being flyable when it wes rolled out.
Yes , and this wasnt a secret , It was common knowledge that system intengration handnt happened yet , and wiring was still left (unstuffed barrels) .
It was a PR day for boeing , and they needed to present something , once the show was over it was back to serious work and the nitty gritties of assembling an airliner .

Am I the only one that does not like the look of the 787? Hope it will grow on me.
See post #2 😀 Bex

Considering the way modern jetliners are constructed (long pressurized–i.e. no large holes– fuselage tubes to which the center section is added) I rather doubt that!

I guess you fasteners to make the landing gear bays. Those were short in supply and landing gear bays are not essential for roll-out. Anyways, I just read it. It may be wrong.

Isn’t this plane basically a mock-up for the photo ops because they promised this would be the day it was unveiled?:D
It was turned apart to some degree again, which isn’t really included in the term “system integration”. I read an account saying that you could look inside the cabin when standing at the landing gear. Anyways, nice weather down in Seattle.

As mentioned in the remark after roll-out the plane went back into the hangar for systems integration. So… yeah, at the moment it is not flyable. To say it is a mock-up goes a bit far though.
Am I the only one that does not like the look of the 787? Hope it will grow on me. Seems typical though, lately no really pretty planes have been made. The A380 is not really a looker either and the E170/190 is not my cup of tea either.
