I wondered what aircraft used the Type E2A compass. Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for your answers. I haven’t got one but a friend has and he is under the impression it was out of a Spitfire and I was pretty sure it wasn’t. Just for the record it isn’t going on EBay or anything like that, the question was genuine. Thank you again.

The Wyvern used an E2A (as a backup) mounted in eye line at the top of the windscreen!

Most of the aircraft quoted by TerryP used the E2B or E2C, which had an internal light. The E2A was lit from the mountiing in the aircraft.

No, to quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail, “I’m not dead yet!”

Thanks TerryP, definitely not a Spitfire one, which I was pretty certain it wasn’t anyway. Googled them up and so many were advertised as Spitfire ones even though I have never seen one in any Spitfire cockpit that I’ve looked in. Just needed to clarify incase I was wrong. Thanks again for the replies, and at least the forum isn’t dead.

Just about all RAF aircraft used them back to Venom, Meteor, Vampire and on to relatively recently. There are different versions, the E2 (I think), E2A, E2B and E2C for example.

Thank you Bunsen, I thought it would have been older.
