What airports/airlines are you using this year?

What airports and airlines will you all be using this year? I shall be flying from Manchester to Dublin with Aer Lingus and London City to Antwerp with VLM, two flights probably on a BAe 146 and two flights definitely on a Fokker 50.

Sadly I will not be travelling to Istanbul (shame). Recieved the flight details today and was informed that the stopover was in Izmir and Antyala.

Interesting post – its great to see where everyone else is travelling:

Last month I flew:

LBA-Belfast-IOM with BE (CRJ & 146-2)
IOM – LBA with BA (J41)

Later this year:
MME – AMS (KLM F100)
MAN – CUN (BY 763)
MME – EWR (KLM F100 & NWA DC10-30)

Frank – if you’re using LHR just to go to London, a better bet is LCY, at LHR you can be waiting ages at baggage reclaim, then you have to wait among the crowds for the underground. At LCY your luggage is usually waiting for you when you reach the reclaim hall (it certainly was when I flew BRU-LCY last year). You can be out of the airport and on a taxi into central London literally five minutes after leaving your aircraft, a feat damned near impossible at LHR. Also the approach into LCY is superb, lots of tight turns with some great views of London landmarks. Of course, only VLM offer this route, but if you’re undecided it is certainly worth considering.
I don’t think BA offer the 146 from Manchester to Brussels, British Midland use the ERJ on that route and SN Brussels use the Avro RJ.

For me, certainlt BRU – MAN in the near future, certainly with BA, so it will be a 146 or, if I’m lucky, a CRJ (I’ll try my best for that ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
Also a BRU-LHR is planned. But don’t know yet when and on what. Possibly SNBA, but BA is also possible

Also, maybe Vienna, Mรผnchen, and Lyon during the year, but nothing sure…

Difficult to say, they are both great airlines! At least you have a choice of 2 good ones rather than 2 bad ones!

This is a very late one for the summer – going with chinese friends from university. Will be there 3 weeks, the destinations are:

LHR-VIE-PEK-SHE

anyone know what plane I will be getting in China, I am hoping it will be an IL-86 or something of that nature, internal chinese flights not booked yet, but the Austrian Airlines flights are booked. Should hopefully get an A340 from Vienna-Beijing, From LHR it will be Airbus A319 in each direction. Never being on Austrian before either.

By the way, is spotting allowed in China or is it simply worth not taking the risk ???

April: LGW-ALC-LGW = easyJet

booked so far. Trips for Copenhagen planned for July and Murcia in August and October. Flights were actually booked with buzz but we got a refund and have to wait until next Wednesday when we have to re-book Ryanair flights to Murcia ๐Ÿ˜ก .

Jay330, as wysiwyg said, the JER flights is a BAe 146 on all daily flights from LGW although in the winter a few of the less popular scheduled times go to a -Q400. Should of gone BA and got on a nice 735!

Thanks for your reply wysiwyg!

๐Ÿ™‚

A civil/Military airport in that area of the world and a war with Iraq don’t sound like a good combination. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

These are mine:

LHR – DXB – PER – Emirates B777’s on each flight
LGW – JER – fly BE (hope a Bae 146)
LHR – YYZ – Air Canada B744 (out) B767 (back)
LHR – AMS – BMI B737
STN – TRN – Ryanair (or so they so) B737

Never being on fly BE before, so that will be another new one, as for the rest, never an air canada 747. Anyone know what airport ryanair actually uses in Turin ???

Luke – Paphos is a military airport which has opened up to civilian use in the last few years. It has one runway WNW-ESE and a bl00dy massive ramp! It has an ILS onto one end of the runway and a VOR approach onto the other. Terrain and weathern are not usually too much of an issue so you can usually get a good self positioning visual approach day or night. The turn off the runway to the ramp is halfway down and difficult to make in a 757 without cooking the brakes but if you don’t make it you have a very convoluted route to get back as they won’t very often let you backtrack.
