Nah I flew BA recently both flights on a 737-500 and they were far from rickety. They made need a patch up in some places but compared to FR 737-200s or IB MD-80s there wonderful

Never had problems with bmi but admit economy (especially airport infrastructure for economy) is going down hill…

Actually the flight I whent on a few months back had drinks etc… But this was on an ERJ so if the flight is quite full, I doubt they’ll be any service.

But even so, inflight service is not included in the cost of your ticket on mainline services.

Thanks T5. I flew with KLM a few years back from LHR – SVO via AMS. It wasn’t a long haul plane in any shape that you seem to be obviously going on, i had 737-800’s and 737-900’s. Were nice, clean and ran on time. Staff were ok, nothing a good slap round the chops couldnt fix tho 🙂

Thanks for the comments. I’m quite looking forward to the trip, but am not expecting much in terms of inflight entertainment. The 747 operating the flights between Amsterdam and Incheon is a combi aircraft, so it’s not going to have too many passengers on board.

I’ve also got my flight with Asiana next Saturday (it was booked for Sunday, but I changed it today) and that’s on the 737-500.. a new aircraft for me! 🙂

I see you’re flying between London and Manchester. On such a short flight, the inflight service isn’t really necessary anyway, and you’re not going to have much time (30 or 35 minutes perhaps) to experience bmi. As soon as the aircraft gets up, it will be time to come down again.

I flew with them last year DUB-LHR-DUB on G-MIDK (A321) in both directions.
The service was good and it was BOB at that stage but to be honest I prefer having a choice!

Self service check in was only available if you had your credit card with you which I didnt.

Overall they were OK but on the DUB-LHR route Aer Lingus kill them mainly due to the frequency which they have on the route as well as easy check in at both airports.

But to put it simply I would fly them again if te price was right.

I flew with bmi last year on the A319 (G-DBCF) and A320 (G-MIDP) from London Heathrow to Charles-de-Gaulle and back again, however, this was before they done away with inflight service.

I see you’re flying between London and Manchester. On such a short flight, the inflight service isn’t really necessary anyway, and you’re not going to have much time (30 or 35 minutes perhaps) to experience bmi. As soon as the aircraft gets up, it will be time to come down again.

But they are big at Heathrow, with lots of staff on hand to help and lots of self check-in machines, too. I’d expect the same is the case with Manchester.

What I want to know is.. “what are KLM like?” 😉

bmi will be nothing more than easyJet and Ryanair now I’m afraid, a great shame.

Expect bmi-baby type service but you will fly on much newer aircraft. The cabin crew wear a nice uniform (unlike bmibaby) and don’t expect to be delayed (like bmibaby as well ;)).

I think they will be better than Easyjet/Ryanair ie. more legroom, allocated seating etc

I have flown them most weeks for the last 6 months, but only on Regional. Enjoyed them all – especially the bumps to biz class!

It will be an A319 just to confirm for you. So that is another positive at least. 🙂

Enjoy your flights.

You will get the full service going out (free drinks and sandwich), and the (new concept) pay bar/sandwich/snack service coming back.

A good opportunity to experience both! 🙂

I’m really confused as to what we’re actually getting. We got the fares at really knock down prices but a week later they were sky high again. This was before they announced the new system so I don’t know what I’m getting in terms of service, drinks an stuff.

Don’t know BMI Baby or the “new and improved” BMI but I have flown BMI 2 years ago 8 times. Always between LHR and AMS. They are a very good airline. Good fares, good planes (young, well maintained), friendly crew and very punctual. Apparantly their on board drinks are no longer free anymore. Well, you won’t miss out on much. 0,25ml of dodgy cola and a cholocat thingysomething.

As Mark says, depends when you are going, in 11 days out goes the complimentary food and drink, and in comes the pay bar and food.

I am still looking forward greatly to my flights with them, which I booked last night :).
