OK, not aircraft related but I have not seen one of these before. This is from an image sent to me of a Canadian nightfighter crew from Hunsdon.
Can anyone identify the badge please?

Thank you Mark,
So, more than likely a token from a girlfriend or a sweetheart eh?
Not having ever seen the badge displayed on an RAF uniform before, it has certainly had a few people guessing. I should imagine the same effect took place during the war, ‘what the heck is that on his breast pocket’???🙂

From the British Badge forum:-
The GI is a Red Cross badge issued to Grade I Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) members in the Second World War. It was normally worn on the VAD’s apron. This is possibly a souvenir of a girlfriend?

No knowledge on the subject whatsoever. To me is GI = Ground Instructor.
On the other hand probably not !

My thoughts were that it is a G.
I thought GI as in the US sense at first , But the chap is Canadian.

The badge seems to read “GL”.
Do you concur from the original?
I could put this here for you.
