What better way to spend your 50th birthday…

… than a flight in a Harvard! šŸ˜€

Hi Guys, I thought I’d share a few pictures with you of last Wednesday (10th August) which was my Father’s 50th birthday.
We, the family and friends had arranged to strategically kidnap him from work in the afternoon and surprise him with a 50 minute flight in Harvard G-BKRA of Warbird Flying at Shoreham Airport. We blindfolded him just before the A-27 so he was oblivious of where we were heading, later telling us that all thoughts of a surprise flight had vanished after passing the obvious routes to Biggin Hill, Duxford, Redhill etc…

The whole family have been following Historic Aviation and the Airshow scene for ever and especially my Father who has been a Warbird fanatic since childhood…Anyway, you can imagine the look on his face when we took that blindfold off and he saw that lovely blue hunk of American machinery! In fact it was priceless… Words to the effect of… ‘What?!… THAT?!!!, i’m flying in…. THAT!!!!!!’ @&@*@^&*^&*@…. šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€

I could try and describe it for hours, but I think the pictures really do the talking… Here is a pictorial guide of how my father spent his 50th birthday… Just check out that grin!!! šŸ˜€

Thanks to Chris Colby for the photography and the people at ‘Warbird Flying’ who were great.

I’ve been ABOVE that aeroplane (in an Auster!) when she’s done a run and break..great stuff (not as frightening as aeros in a T-6 above three C-130s on a low level x-country)

Was Andrew Edie driving?

It’s certainly made me want to get airborne again and i wasn’t even in the thing! The bit that did it for me, i must say was the ‘Ray Hanna’ style run and break… 20ft low and fast… hmmmm šŸ˜€

Well done !!!

This is a superb !!

I once shouted my Granddad a flight in a Pitts Special for his birthday.
You’re right in saying words can’t describe emotions that come out from this sort of gift.

Cheers
