If you drive what car do you currently have?
Or if you are like me, learning to drive, what will your first car be?
Mine will be a little Black Ford Fiesta.

RE: What car do you currently drive?
Not even 21 mate, when I hit 21 it made practically naff all difference, and when I hit 25, again not much diff. Guess the insurance companies don’t like males under 47! I do think it is a massive rip off. Take for example a crash I had, I stalled into the back of the sh1test rover you have ever seen. I must have hit him aty crawling speed and caused a wopping £250 damage! But he was awkward and wouldn’t settle privatly. The result… my premium on renewal went from 1,200 a year to £4,900!! After I shopped around I got it down to £1,700 but I was appaled that I had lost my no-claims over £250 even though I was paying them £1,200 a year, they still made a £950 profit out of me! And wouldn;t let me settle the amount to get my no claims back, I wonder why?

RE: What car do you currently drive?
yeh frnak over here kids who are in the 17 to 18 driving catorgary pay a small fortune to drive the naffist of car (oh and girls are half price). once you get to 18 it goes down a bit and at 21 your considered a lot safer and the price goes down a lot.
its to do with males aged 17 to 21 are stastically thte most likley to have an acident.
hence in teh uk kids buy th eoldest possible smallest engined cars while in places like america kids get say a noraml sized neon as their first car !!!

RE: What car do you currently drive?
A330Crazy,
I haven’t got a pic of it to hand but I have a pic of the kit. The Corsa’s sittin in the garage at the moment waiting for the rear end to be smoothed out and resprayed. Your bro sounds like a hardcore modder! Shame about the RS, my Clio was subject to some vandalism a while back, its such a petty act. I cant afford one so I’ll wreck it attitude narcs me off. People like that should have the balls (or equivalent) cut off! Harsh I know but in the words of Travolta in pulp fiction you shouldnt touch another man’s motor! (couldn’t remember the words, sorry)
Good luck with the Fisti, keep me posted dude, if ya need tips or anything then feel free to ask, although it sounds like your brother is going to be a great help in your project.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-10-02 AT 04:02 PM (GMT)]Do you have a pic of it simmer. Sounds real good though what you got there.
As you can see from what I have said in the above posts, I have a long way to go.
By Brother had a Escourt XR3i, Red. Beautiful car, he spent so much on it, (£15,000+) :o… a blimming lot of dosh!!! But even spending that amount on his car was not enough to save it, the back suspension completely colapsed, rusted away. Nothing could be done with it, as he ran out of money… Today the spoiler, the doors, the bonet (with air inlets), the boot door and the reg.no’s are sitting in my cellar.
He cut it up a kept these parts for spares, just incase he ever got another XR3i. But he didn’t. Got an Orion 1.6
Though my brother did have quite a few cars:
His first car was a mini 😛
then he got his hands on a dark blue Mk 1 Cortina — this he did up.
then he had an RS2000 — this was subject to an arson attack outside my house.
Then came the XR3i
then the Orion, and now he has a 106.
I want to do as he did, modify cars to the fullest.

RE: What car do you currently drive?
Modifications to my Corsa SRi:
Engine…
Pipercross induction kit
Ecotec
Performance re-profiled cam
splitfire plugs and ht leads
Full Piper mild steel exhaust system with 4″ oval pipe
De-cat pipe
Suspension…
Lowered 40mm on PI springs
Strut brace
External:
15″ White allys similar to the fisti above.
Full PSG Combat kit inc terminator bonnet
Blue neon underlight kit, 1 front, 2 side, 1 rear
clear side repeaters
Internal…
Momo pedals
Momo gear knob
ICE…
Sony Mobile MD head unit
Everything else is standard, at the moment.
and thats it:)
Its nod bad as a motor and the insurance is a great deal less than the Clio 16v was, only £500 fully comp! I wish it was a bit faster, although it sounds amazing, thats an 8 valve engine for you.

The problem is: if you change too much, that kind of car has the desastrous tendency to be attracted by trees… }>

Sorry, it’s in french, but it’s worth it!

RE: What car do you currently drive?
The Fiesta I got is a 1.1 LX. Not very fast but that can easily be changed! 🙂
Simmer, I am to have tinted windows, alloys, bodykit, a decent sound system and i really want to get a bigger, more pwerful enging put in it, But must find the money to do all of this first. 🙁
What have you done to your Corsa?

RE: What car do you currently drive?
Hey, even with my Focus, with a full insurance, I don’t come to £1500! And the motor is “a bit” bigger than tho one of the Fiesta (1.8 TDCI = 115 HP). And I thought my insurance was too high…

RE: What car do you currently drive?
its a 1.1 E regs car – no mods at all – just a quick inquirey to one insurace company cam out as £1500 ish. my mate has got a 20 year old escort 1.1 down to somewhere around £1000 but for just a student like me £1000 is way too expensive (just 17 you know)
