Thoughts on that giant squid some Japs caught on tape off the Marianas:
The sperm whale eats giant squids.
But what does the giant squid eat to become that giant?
Giant eels? Did you know eels never stop growing?
And what does the giant eel eat? Methane hydrate? Or is that what he leaves behind after having eaten?
And after the New Englishers and later Onassis killed about 95% of all sperm whales, was there an explosion of the giant squid population? Did they turn to canibalism? Or did they eat all the giant eels and died of starvation?
Questions, questions, questions …
(Like: How old is the water? And how does it come into existence?)

Any type of shark would probably hate the nasty taste and spit her out

A bull shark would be better, Steve. Smaller, more aggressive, and they can survive in freshwater 😉

I’m thinking about getting a Great White for the pool, the Mother-In-Law often goes for a late night dip when she stays over
Great idea! 😉

I wonder if we will see any of these beasties in 5’s “Killer Shark Live” that is on every night this week, starting tonight at 20.00.
(Although having read the synopsis, it is about the Great White – brrrr! 😮 )

Well, this is the best that can be had!
Relative sizes of a diver, a modern great white, and Megalodon.
And their teeth. The great white’s tooth is about 2ins long. I have a Meg tooth about 2ins long, and it’s from a juvenile!!
DAMN! 😮

Who knows what mysteries lurk in the deepest parts of the oceans?
All I know is I wouldn’t fancy getting close to either the squid found the other day let alone a possible bigger version…

Reminds me of an episode of Red Dwarf, when talking about the Despair Squid:
“It’s either gonna kill us, eat us or hump us!”
“Back to Reality” – probably the best ever Red Dwarf episode….

Try this with a nice Sauvignon Blanc
12 squid tubes, approximately 1½-inch diameter
1 bell pepper, finely chopped
3 stalks celery, finely chopped
5 green onions, finely chopped
10 cloves fresh garlic, minced
½ pound shrimp meat, chopped
½ pound crab meat, chopped
Juice of ½ lemon
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cans (16 oz each) tomato sauce
1/3cup cooking sherry
2 tsp thyme
1 tsp each oregano, basil, garlic salt, crushed bay leaves and black pepper
1 pound linguine, cooked and drained
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Rinse squid and pat dry. Mix together bell pepper, celery, onions and garlic. Add 1/3 of mixture to shrimp and crabmeat with lemon juice. Stuff this mixture into the squid tubes and place them in a 9 x 15-inch baking dish. Heat oil in large skillet and saute remaining pepper, celery, onion and garlic mixture. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 10 to 15 minutes. Pour this sauce over the stuffed squid tubes and bake for 20 minutes. Serve over bed of linguine. (Be sure to have some garlic bread to soak up the sauce.)
