What ever happened to…

…under fuselage ‘fake’ cockpit markings?

I remember seeing F-16’s / FA-18s with fake cockpit markings painted to the forward under-fuselage. However you hardly ever see this paint scheme applied to combat aircraft nowadays, why is that?:confused:

My PC wallpaper is of a RAF Typhoon (the underside of), and I am thinking if the application of such markings would be any use? Obviously from a personal point of view, they would make for interesting viewing, but would it serve any purpose in an operational situation?
