What five things really annoy you ?

Right here goes in no particular order………..

1. People who drive with their front fog lights on on the clearest of nights. It’s not cool and it dazzles the poor people coming the other way.

2. Teenagers who are crossing the road and when they see are car coming so slow down in the middle of the road.

3. Women in a supermarket who pack all their shopping away and then have to root to the depths of their handbags to find their purse. Did they think it was going to be free and not expect to have to get their purse out. Get it ready !!!!

4. All reality tv shows.

5. When you let people pull out at junctions etc and they don’t have the couristy to thank you.

Ok rant over fire away people.

well, some of them…..

untrained, uninsured, unqualified, unregulated……………. and in many cases with a poorly judged application of sweaty spandex…..

and by the way you spandex wearing tree hugging, save the gay whale and nuclear weapons are phallic symbol believing hippy, you are not saving the planet and you did not invent the bike…..now get OFF the pavement so as you don’t run my poor old mum over again, get on the road, with lights that don’t flash, signal and look (not just one out of the two) and stop bitching about there being cars on the road.

That made me 😀

I have twice stood my ground on the pavement as a cyclist headed towards me and the look on the face as they realise that you are not actually going to give way is worth the risk of bing run over! And I write as a keen “ordinary” cyclist, wearing “ordinary” clothes – and who rides on the roads.

Bikers should be forced to wear hi visibility or face a fine!

Cyclists are worse offenders than bikers in my experience.

Horse-riders, too (and I’m one of them, but I DO wear my hi-viz jacket!)

People who drive motorbikes and weave in and out of traffic, the slogan should say think motorist and not bike!

Bikers should be forced to wear hi visibility or face a fine!

Moreorless

The ever growing nanny state and wondering if its pernicious progress is inherently British.

Yes, I am sure it is and is one of the reasons I spend as little time in the UK as possible. The other 4 are:

Rudeness, bad manners and general incivility
Selfishness
Hypocrisy
Disinterest from shopkeepers ( computer says no )

The ever growing nanny state and wondering if its pernicious progress is inherently British.

It saddens me whenever I encounter it.

Oh, and those who dawdle in supermarket car parks trying to find a space nearest the entrance and blocking other drivers.

Phoning up a big defence contractor to talk to a mate who works there and being treated like I was the head of procurement for the Taliban. Hello, do I speak with an Afghan accent or something?

I lived and worked in M/cr throughout all those days. One of my regrets was only going to the Hac once, and I was too pi55ed to recall who was on.

Received wisdom is that when in slow-moving or stationary traffic you should be so positioned as to be able to see the point where the rear tyres of the car in front meet the road. This gives you a buffer sufficient to prevent you being pushed into that car whilst the guy behind you is searching for the right CD in his glove compartment

I agree. I’m tall…I can get quite close!

TRRL study show ‘merge in turn’ or ‘zipper’ merges are actually more efficient than trying to get all the traffic into a singe lane well before the hazard, especially where amateur road traffic law enforcement officers are playing silly ******s by blocking a lane.

No, you misunderstand Mogs…..the zipper/merge has already gone on some 300 yards back, with all good deeds and fair play. The last couple of hundred yards is where the selfish ***********************s cut in.
The first wasn’t any better. It has been noted.

Gentlemen,

Please conduct any personal quabbles by PM, not in the open forums.

It’s really quite an unedifying spectacle for the rest of us.

Thank you.

If it’s stationary, then the gap I leave to the car in front is the thickness of a shadow.

Received wisdom is that when in slow-moving or stationary traffic you should be so positioned as to be able to see the point where the rear tyres of the car in front meet the road. This gives you a buffer sufficient to prevent you being pushed into that car whilst the guy behind you is searching for the right CD in his glove compartment

a lane is closed and the cars have to filter – say left, we (Up North) used to keep slightly to the right, the car behind slightly more to the right etc. This eventually blocks that lane to prevent those queue jumpers.

TRRL study show ‘merge in turn’ or ‘zipper’ merges are actually more efficient than trying to get all the traffic into a singe lane well before the hazard, especially where amateur road traffic law enforcement officers are playing silly ******s by blocking a lane.

Going back to the member who was annoyed by drivers leaving car spaces between cars in a slow moving crawl of traffic, yes, maybe, but he would be even more annoyed if the twit half a car length behind him drove into him in a split second’s lapse or concentration or worse he himself drove into the car in front. The it would be HIS fault.

Come on, we all get irritated by these injunctions about how to drive but leaving space between vehicles is one which, if followed by more drivers, would result in fewer traffic jam shunts. Crawling in first with distance between, as suggested, is very good advice.
