What grinds your gears?

little family guy quote but I want honest answers to see what in the world annoys people on this forum.

one of my biggest hates is when I see people wasteing food, the farmers ETC have worked hard to produce that food and people are just throwing it away yes it doesn’t affect the producers directly but it does affect them adventually as if people keep throwing away their food and leaving it at restraunts then the owners will think people don’t like it and stop buying it so it can affect them, and on top of this people in third world countries would die to get a good meal that we in this country and other richer countries would think was nothing, whenever I see a homless person and have enough money I will go into a shop or fast food restraint and buy them a meal of some sort and the look on their face when you give them it is amazing I suggest you try it at some point, if each one of us helped a single different person each week the world would be a much better place.

Self-sealing envelopes that don’t! Luckily, I have a large bottle of rubber-type adhesive that does the job nicely.

It’s not only me that has the problem – I had a letter from my solicitor today (nothing sinister!) with the flap stuck down with Sellotape. Same post brought yet another letter with the same method of closure.
The one thing they had in common were the words ‘Seal-easy’ on each envelope.

It is all too common, but not surprising when I heard one “lady” presumably the mother of the child who got this message at full volume, went like this ” get in the f#####g car you stupid little b#####d” no idea what the child did to incurr this sort of wrath, but a superb example to set, not.

I quite agree. An all too common occurrence and seemingly more evident now than I remember a few years ago.

Things that grind my gears……

Women who swear in public…it isn’t ladylike and it puts many men off. It may be an attempt to appear ” equal” … the result is not so…you appear poorly educated and dragged up.

I don’t particularly enjoy hearing anyone swearing in public. Especially when they’re screaming at someone down their mobile phone…
It’s especially worrying when kids do it. The amount of times I’ve had a little brat shout something along the lines of “F**king poof!” at me… When they can’t be much older than 12… I’d never dream of doing anything like that at that age (and that was only 10 years ago for me), or even now, I like to think my parents brought me up to be a well mannered citizen.

Things that grind my gears……

Using clichés.(including ” you know”,”innit” and all the others)

People who post on places like this using textspeak , no punctuation or capitals.

Eating in the street …..when I was a child in the 40s my mother told me that only ” common” people eat in the street. Likewise drinking unless you are a runner with water bottle.

Women who swear in public…it isn’t ladylike and it puts many men off. It may be an attempt to appear ” equal” … the result is not so…you appear poorly educated and dragged up.

Reformed smokers ( I am one of those) who look down their nose at smokers. It really doesn’t worry me , it’s your life.

People who, when at the front of a queue at traffic lights , take so long to get going that the lights turn red before anyone else has a chance.

People who at a checkout take forever to extract their money/card from their wallet/handbag and then spend 5 minutes asking the checkout girl pointless questions…..

Old farts like me who spend ages typing outpointless lists of dislikes on forums!

My irritation of the day is the “Magazines and Websites” drop down button being right above the log-in click. The number of times I’ve hit that by mistake…… Grrrr…..

Actually, there are two “nice” white van men – I am the other one. ;)[/QUOTE]

:love-struck: Brilliant ,thank you for being another nice white van man.:)

Another thing that grinds my gears–the automated phone system used by most large companies now. When your problem is fairly straight forward they are ok BUT anything slightly abnormal they don’t work.
“Press 1,2 ,3 for this, then press ,1,2,3 for that, then a patronising recorded voice speaking to you before you get another load of options which still don’t quite fit .I tend to mumble to the machine so it cant understand and after a while it says sorry don’t understand– i will now pass you onto a customer service operator 😡

Which then brings onto the ones where you get the fake recorded message ” All our customer service operators are busy helping other customers. We know how important you call is to us ” –RUBBISH -The reason your customer services are busy is because you don’t have enough staff.

Fc*king TV ads.
You know why – They are usually at a volume level 2 or 3 times that of the programme that they interrupt.
For that reason, I tend to record programmes on ITV, etc. on the trusty PVR, then I can skip through the shoite ads at my leisure.

…YOU are THE nice white van man–i heard the myths of there being one and he is here 🙂 .

One of the driving ‘fashions’ that seems to have emerged in the last few years is the speed at which some people go through roundabouts…a roundabout is a junction – not a chicane LOL
I go through them fairly fast if they are clear of traffic – but I have been ‘tooted’ at a few times in the last couple of years because all of a sudden I am ‘in the way’ of some impatient fastard who has forgotten that a roundabout is just a junction with priorities !
I have even been tooted at by some dipstick on a mini roundabout who could not have moved unless I had entered the roundabout and stopped the traffic from his right 😀

Oh, Trump – it’s always the same story – no signalling, no awareness of their own space or other drivers’ space, misjudging distance and speed, parking selfishly, dangerous overtaking, jumping lights, absence of knowledge of roundabout rules – the list goes on and on. Probably one of the few things which actually really frustrates me, not that I can do anything about it. I am just relieved that I no longer drive 50,000 miles a year. More like 5,000 now!!;) But thanks for asking, I feel a lot better now!:D

That Spanish guitar one makes me cringe. Awful. Just awful.

🙂 Thankfully i seem to have missed or can’t recall that one.My friends are passionate about the one with the Russian furry creatures-simples ,they even collect the toys–the business men must be really rubbing their hands.

I personally watch very little TV ,maybe an hour a day max.You can’t help but see the adverts that really do prey on the desperate ,weak ,gullible and stupid people.Behind every puppet, catchphrase is a rich business man waiting to add to their misery.

Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of record and fast forward, BUT I am quite fond of the mute button , ESPECIALLY during guilt tripping charity ads. I sympathise, I do, but I can’t afford to give to everyone

Hot tip. For daytime TV the off button is available and record non-BBC programmes to watch at your leisure and fast forward through the ad breaks. Result: no more grinding gears!;)
