What have I just seen?

Hi folks, I don’t often appear here as I’m tusually too busy looking for Spitfires under the road to Burma Shave over in Historic.:diablo:

I’ve just seen something rather out of the ordinary, which I’m assuming was modern military, and if anyone knows what it was I’d love to hear.

Heading approx east-west just north of Oxford at about 10.40am (didn’t think to check watch, so guesswork on timing) was a large aircraft with four escorts. Whatever it was was very high, I could pick out a large blob and four specks in a V formation behind it, towing impressive contrails. Whatever they were, they were high enough that they were almost inaudible as well as almost invisible. Most impressive.

Anyone any ideas?
