What if there was no Cold War??

While watching some Tornado flying about, i wondered what the technical level of aircraft would be now, if we didnt have the cold war.

Would we have things like the Tornado, F-14 etc? As without the cold war there would in theroy be no cold war to drive development on.

Just wondered what you lot would think the military aviation world would be like for all concerned not just the West
