What Is Exciting At Your local airport this summer?

Well I think for many airlines the summer schedule starts tomorrow (30th March), so what is happening at your airport this summer that is exciting? Any new destinations/airlines/aircraft, or maybe some services being discontinued?
For Guernsey this summer is quite the same as last:
*Aurigny are introducing a new Shorts 360 on inter island routes, however, cutting the frequency from 14 to 9 daily flights.

*Aurigny introduce a new flight to Bristol tomorrow, Amsterdam finishes.

*Aurigny’s leased BAe 146 will enter summer in the coming months to Manchester and Stansted.

*Swiss daily Zurich flights cease.

*Eurowings charter flights will transfer from Dortmund to Dusseldorf.

Tomorrow also sees the start of BA shuttle operations from LCY and Flybe. operations at Southampton.

So what is happening at your airport this summer?

Nothing exciting this summer for us at CYYC and I doubt that anything could top the excitment of last summer’s G8 summit with aircraft ranging from AirForce 1 to the Canadian Prime Minister’s Challenger 601 jet.

Lydd Air was only a rumour so it probably will not flourish. I was also told that Twinjet would aquire an ATR 42 so you can see how true these rumours probably are….

Nothing of excitement here at Teesside; just the usual increase in schedules. I expect we’ll see a B763 doing frequent BY ‘W’ runs this year from NCL – apart from that all quiet on the western front.

sounds interesting the Lydd Air SD330

According to Jethros though…
[ ] GBDOT BN TRISLANDER 2A MK3-2 1025
[ ] GBEDP BN TRISLANDER 2A MK3-2 1039
[ ] GOJAV BN TRISLANDER 2A MK3-2 1024
[ ] GVCML BEECH BARON TH1346

Ccording to the website they only fly to Le Touquet, but have an extreamly interesting Luch and Local VFR flight package in the Islander (20 mins) for £39 – not bad for a pressie!

Ok thanks EGNM. Just I had heard rumours.
On the subject of JER, Aer Lingus will start operations there tomorrow. Also bmi regional will be operating daily Edinburh services and also CRJ’s will be sed on the MAN route with BE. BE is operating an extra daily Exeter rotation as well. Lastly, Lydd Air is rumoured to be operating a Shorts 330 to the island from Lydd.

Hi SAAB,

Jet2 has its full summer programme sorted now and JER is not in there at the moment – althought to be foir you do get hoards of bmi E145s and F100s down during the summer!

As far as i know also, the VLM flights are running along with an E145 of BA Citiexpress which is an improvement upon last years ATP!

Also 4got to mentio that although we are loosing our 3x daily J41 link to EGKK (due to BA pullout) we are gaining an Extra Islo of Man and Southampton run – shud make things a bit easier for you Mongu – 2x daily!

Yes I remember you telling me about THY Kabir.
EGNM, will VLM be operating into LBA again this summer period? Also I heard rumours Jet 2 would commence flights to Jersey, any truth in that?

Excitements here?. Well nothing at all, I suppose. Usually charters to summer destinations like the usual additional flights to Spanish coast and islands: And seasonal to
-Buenos Aires….Aerolineas Argentinas B747
-New York……….Air Plus A310 or any exotic american charter
-Switzerland, UK, Germany….Usually Crossair (EMB, AVRO), Monarch and Air2000 and Lufthansa (CRJ)
-Others like…….Tunisair (B737-600), Air Malta (B737-200/300)
Prague (Travel Service B737-400) and Air Algerie (to bring Sahara kids to summer camps) and nothing else is expected.
Problably a new start up, a cargo airline using Embraer Brasilia
will launch a regional to close destinations.

Still talk going round of a direct Glasgow-Cuba service starting up, don’t know how advanced the plans are though. Also rumours of PIA operating a route to Pakistan as well.

Loco, I have a vague memory of hearing about them.

Found this website http://www.locoflights.com is it them?

It doesn’t look so much like an airline but more like a company that sells tickets on other carriers, no sign of any aircraft operated or anything.

At EMA we’ve not got too much but:

A new 747 flight starts on Thursday, will operate 5 weekly arriving at 1230 (3 x JFK, 2 x ORD) and departing out to AMS at 1430. Operated by Kalitta.

A few charters: Nouvelair Tunisia, Balkan Holidays, Aegean, Pegasus.

Apart from that I expect the usual easyjet, bmibaby and cargo flights. We should get the new UPS 767 soon.

Hopefully I can catch a few more interesting visitors doing circuits and in for maintanence.

Apart from that we havn’t got a lot.
