What is Germany up to?

Can anyone please give a rasional reason behind Germany’s lack of comitment to defence? I mean they’ve pulled out of Eurofighter (Again) and now they are stalling on the A-400M, Why?

Has re-unification been more costly than first antisipated? If so, why don’t they sell the Mig-29’s off instead of giving them to Poland? I’m sure some countries out there would love to get their hands on these planes.

Another thought would be to rationalise the defence force, since the wall fell and east and west merged, the German defence has done little to rationalise it’s forces, sure they took the best from either side and kept them in service, but this wasn’t really a force restructure was it?

Anyway I look forward to hearing what is going on!
