Okay Guys, time to put this one to bed I guess!
There were some very interesting answers and i wish they were true, what a treat to be in a hangar with some of the types mentioned here, Cr42, Percival Q6 and even a Proktuka!

It was in fact an undercarrige fairing from a …………….. dh Rapide! 😮
G-AGTM to be precise, and it had been fettled by Bruce ‘he’s a legend’ Doughty ,one of the engineers on the classic flight, and a custodian of Canberra WK163.
The colours that fooled you all were several coats of primer, not italian camouflage mores the pity!
Yes I know you may say that Dave J said as much but he wasn’t quite correct in his description and I was enjoying all your answers, so apologies for letting his answer ride. 😮
Hope you enjoyed it as much as me 😉
Cheers, Alan.

Are we being conned here by the colour scheme into thinking it’s something Italian, please don’t go on all day as I have my kitchen to repaint, I’ve sat looking through my books and can’t relate it to anything in there, soooo, if Alanl is from Brum, what’s being restored in that area chaps.

Possible answers:

A new streamlined bit of Rory’s car…

A spare piece of aircraft fairing, flatted and primed ready for Tom to try out his new tin of dayglo Humbrol on…
I hope it is a BIG tin of Humbrol! 😀
I forgot to ask what Tom wanted it for,so many questions so little time! 🙁
….that or it must have something to do with Baron Von Gridlock, latest recruit to the AACF team (to read more on Von Gridlock’s adventures, see the next issue of FlyPast……….. :diablo: )

….Or is the piece in question now attatched to the (censored), fully airworthy and resplendent in shiny (censored) paint.

(Censorship due to my unfair advantage 🙂 )

In the immortal words of Hong Kong Fooey, Could beeee! :p
Don’t spoil it Will I am enjoying the, wrong, answers, including yours! 😀

Briliant answers guys, they have kept me chuckling anyway!
Chris ,what or who is a ‘Mukkanese?!
There is one nearly right answer here, do you want me to say or would you rather keep guessing for a while longer?
Alan.
Ps for bonus points I might be asking what is in the can behind the cardboard!

It’s some kind of camouflaged Head Gear used for hiding in a vat of Stilton Cheese?

My best mate just came up with an interesting theory. Namely that it is part of the tailfin. To be more specific; the connecting fairing between the horizontal of the fuselage and the diagonal of the tail fin. You get my meaning?

THATS IT!! We’ve all been so concerned with what the shroud thing is when actually the question asked what another object was…

Its actually a 4 foot square wood pallet.

Where do I collect my prize?
