Looking at http://www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.1244 the MoD claims that the fleet still consists of 3 Invincible class aircraft carriers, 4 Type 22 and 13 Type 23 frigates plus 8 Type 42 destroyers.
I am fairly sure they are a carrier down and there have been lots of stories about other surface combatants being withdrawn from the active fleet so can anybody tell me the current state of play?
Thanks.

Ooops. Best get reading then. I was kind of hoping for a summary as epic appears to be the operative word. Its not a thread so much as a sea monster.

Thanks. Do you have any idea what the future plans are for the surface fleet? I know about the carriers and I have heard there will be 6 Type 45s but what about frigates and submarines?
There is an epic thread here that pretty much covers all of this in detail. Currently everything is very much up in the air. Royal Navy two tier thing or whatever it is called now.

Except the carrier everything seems ok. Maybe they count the reserve invincible as a part of the fleet.
Invincible is still (in theory) available if needed, though I can’t envisage her being re-commissioned.
