What is the size of a nuclear fireball ?

I’ve read a lot about nuclear weapons and everywhere I find conflincting information, some say a nuclear fireball ranges from 500 to 4000 m in diameter, what is the definite answer ?Does it depend from the yield of the device or what? One megaton fireball ?Two megatons ?500 kilotons ?
What is the height, the diameter ?…

I would imagine it’s rather big no matter the yield or size….

just google “nuclear fireball size” and you’ll find all the information you could want.

There is also a relationship between yield and diameter, though it is not a direct relationship. (ie double the yield is not double the diameter).

Depends on the yield of the weapon and the surrounding pressure. The fireball from a ten kt weapon will be larger at 50,000 feet than 10,000 feet beneath the surface of the sea.
