Hi All,
Firstly copyright…
It was an e bay item, but it clearly states copyright IWM, and it is a RTP series photo, so therefore I can personally see no prob’s loading it here.( mod’s delete if you feel otherwise..)
e bay Item number: 350300672531
Now down to the real stuff…
I lost out on this photo on e bay, but I am curious as to the type of twin engined a/c in the far right of the photo, anyone able to I/D it ?
In the front there is a spitfire, there are p-40’s in the left rear, which adds up to the assumption of westlands in Oct’41( but I could be wrong)
But as I said my curiosity is ….
any ideas what the twin is in front of the bungalow?
Cheers
Jerry

Its hard, doesn’t seem slender enough for a Whirlwind, through the pixels it seems wider, best I could think of was Beaufort/Blenheim or maybe an Oxford?

Airspeed Oxford perhaps?
For comparison –

I think it is an Oxford but the image is not that clear when zoomed.

It looks more like a bristol type as the dihedral looks wrong for an Oxford to me. (not enough angle)

Gonna throw Beechcraft Expeditor into the equation just to mix things up
I wasn’t able to rule out a twin fin from the photo so gotta be worth a shot!
EDIT: Scratch that, dates don’t tie up, Expeditor is too late by the seem of things!

I suspect an Oxford as it appears to have a two bladed props. My other suggestion was going to be a Blackburn Botha, but the props exclude that.

I thought Blenheim or Beaufort (looks a bit too portly for a Beaufighter, though).

Looks Oxbox to me!

Hi All,
thanks for the input, yes i agree it does not seem like a whirlwind, as the shape seems different, and not big enough for a welkin.
I too thought beaufort but an odd place, ( if my idea of location is correct)
For some odd reason it reminds me of the gloster f9 37 slightly.
I can not make out if the engines are radials or chin radiators.
anyway thanks all.
An oxford would probably make sense, maybe ATA delivering pilots.
cheers

Hampden? Hereford?

Hampden, to deep in the fuselage for an Oxford. Difficult to tell much detail from the pic really.

Hampden? Hereford?
The dihedral is all wrong for a Hampden. i would put my money on a Hudson.

There is a Tomahawk to the left. I have to blow up the pic a bit for the other. It’s a Hudson.
