Following the discussion on another thread which has raised the truly shocking Sturgeon SB3 has anything more offensive to the eye ever flown?
All I can offer is this

The Stipa Caproni (ok so this photo is of a replica)

You wouldn’t even get me in that regardless of whether it was airworthy or not.

There are all ready loads of ‘ugliest aircraft’ threads going, and the above two aircraft are already mentioned in them.
Suggest using the search facillity at upper right, and tag on to one of those.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the Armsrong Whitworth Ape.

Not keen on this one.

When did you sneak into my shed Moggy? I got one just like that in there. Somewhere…!

Ah, a beautiful piece of functional design Moggy – to which florid motifs have been added in a superb blend of Victoriana!
Sadly I believe it can’t be considered as it is, strictly speaking, a router.

It might only be a replica, but it is a flying one.

Still reckon there’s little to beat the Amiot 143, though.

An interesting and novel design, where the pilot and co-pilot/ passenger provide the vertical stabilization……

Rubbish. Where’s the ADSL in feed?

Maybe when you’re lying under it wiping the oil off in your best shirt… and shoes…
Nah!

RE8. Flew as good as it looked……

I had forgotten Moggy’s differentiation between plans and ‘planes. I think you can get away with ‘planes if you are an American or Canadian speaker – or is it pedantic in any case?
What about this little fella – one flight before crashing for ever? And another Caproni!

If you look closely, there appears to be someone hiding behind it.

Among the Paper aircraft, I recall someone about 15 years ago in “Pilot” magazine doing a feature on the evolution of the perfect aircraft according to the rules of Burt Rutan. It went through about 15 to 20 iterations eventually finishing up resembling a Focke-Wulf 189 with asymmetric wings, and an offset pod for payload
It looked hideous but there were good reasons for the changes made for each iteration

No-one seems to be able to bring themselves to name the elephant in the room – the Canberra. Moon-faced, weird winged, long nacelled, snub nosed, the list is endless – despite fifty years of good service, it’s a pig. I assume the pilots wore a disguise in case their chums saw them.
Realising that this may not be a popular view, I shall now don a tin hat and run.
