I am looking for the help of the experts who frequent this forum, please.
I have absolutely no information on this picture which was given to me by a non aviation person. What type, possible location, time? Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks James for the instant reply and special thanks for everyones efforts. How on earth the picture (obviously from an album) came to Ireland is a mystery, there has to be a story out there.

There is no registration under the wing.
They were deleted at the beginning of the war.
I will seek in the book of Lela presse.

But the more difficult ones are where and why! I’ve seen many an old rusting tractor languishing next to the bean poles in a French potager but never an MS 460. If that photograph could speak, I’m sure that it would have a fascinating tale to tell!

JDK, You are right.

I think it is a Dewoitine D.520. Look at the roundel close to the wintip and the brake unit on the wheel hub ?
The Dewoitine’s wheel cover was quite different, and the MS 460’s is very distinctive; hence the quick response.
I stand by my call. The roundel is standard French Air Force, I think, and as John says, places it most probably in the 1939-40 period, although it could be a non-combat accident earlier or later, but not by much. It’s not a Swiss one!
