What is this tank from? American? help!

It’s one of those “I’ve seen one of those things” issues with me. I’ve checked C47, Hudson, and Ventura manuals and nope not those and I’m sure we’ve got one somewhere in our stores as the minute I saw the pic the old bells rung. More digging is called for.

Bro Cuskelly are you out there? Might be something you know over the other side of the ditch like B24/25?

Can you give the lineal measurement length and height as per the posted photo so I can confirm a theory?

I know what your going to say Denys, and yes your right. Ive posted the wrong measurements!

Its just under 19 inches long, and its 11 inches wide (not including filler cap) it has a depth of 4 1/2 inches.

I should have spotted my mistake when I posted.

All of the bolts holding various covers and outlets onto the tank have a locking wire running through them and the bacolite filler cap has a dipstick attatched to it marking out gallons.

Someone one somewhere must know what it is, and where its from.

Another way you could use to determine from which side of the pond it comes from would be to look at the pipe fittings, all Brit stuff is BS or BSP whilst American stuff is either AN or ANP or MS.

Have you tried measuring the capacity?

US gallons and imperial gallons are different. It might help if, for instance, you found you couldn’t squeeze two and a quarter imperial gallons into it; the implication would be that this was definitely American

Not always…I’ve seen various references to windscreens…and I really don’t think it’s from anything other than an aircraft. How many cars or trucks have 2+gallon washing fluid/anti-ice reservoir?
