What is your favourite aviation video?

Your favourite aviation video? This could be a film, an airshow highlights video, airport or air routes, a programme about a particular aircraft or one of those collections you can get.
Mine – a classic Farnborough video about the 1950s and 1960s; my “Wings Over The World” videos – particularly episode 9 which is about the DH Comet, “Wooden Wonders to Whisper Jets” which is the story of the DH factory at Hatfield and the aircraft produced there and “British Ait Travel” which shows all the vintage airline types and the building of Heathrow up to the modern day.

How about the NOVA episode about the recovery of the “Kee-Bird” the B-29 that landed up in Northern Greenland, If you haven’t seen it, its quite interesting, with a twist at the end! Glacier Girl was great too, but it should have been a 2 hour episode. Also the recent NOVA on the JSF competition. Flight of the phoenix great too!!

I quite like “Mitchells do Fly in IMC” about the delivery flight of 5 B25’s from the USA to UK for the film “Hannover Street”
(features the late John Hawke)

My favorite has to be the NOVA episode “Supersonic Spies” covering the Tu-144 program. Lots of interesting stuff in there, including coverage of the Paris crash and the espionage efforts the Soviets undertook to gather Concorde data.

Think I’m with Comet. I’ve got the 50s Farnborough but not the 60s yet.
“Wooden Wonders to Whisper Jets” is wonderful. Affectionate tribute to DH and the time flies by. It’s too short.

B****y Avroliner my a***!

“The Perfect Lady” – the story of the late Nick Grace’s restoration of Spitfire IX ML407. I have yet to see the video of Carolyn Grace’s exploits flying her late husband’s aircraft, but if it’s anything like the first one (and indeed the displays she flies today) it’ll be compelling viewing.

I have a really good Phantom video on VHS and I can’t remember what it’s called. I have it at home and not here at school, so I’ll have to check when school’s over and I’ve moved back home for the summer. I want to say it’s one of those that Dazza mentioned. I’ve also got a good video that chronicles air combat and ends talking about the AIMVAL/ACEVAL tests of the 1970’s. Tons of great footage of USN F-4’s, F-14’s, A-4’s, F-5’s, etc.

Hi,

Good topic!

My favourit vid would have to be ‘Akash Yoddha’ , a one hour film on the IAF . For a starved IAF nut like me, this CD was/is a great piece of work with superb photography and great shots of the MiG 21 Bison, Su 30 MKI and virtually all the aircraft in the IAFs inventory.

Hopefully they havent run out of copies!
