victor tango. I can answer that. In Bristol we have various community aid groups for various groups Like Somali Community aid and others for Pakistani’s and so on. These organisations are funded by Bristol City Council so that they can get their entitlements housing and services, in extreme cases even sue the Council that provides the funding. The people that work in these centres are extremely switched on. How do I know? Up to four years ago I used to sell photocopiers and had some of these organisations as my customers.

Filling in these types of forms is a nightmare.many just give up.
Immigrants/ and the like seem to breeze through these seemingly insurmountable problems………..how do they do it??? someone is helping them and I wish I knew who they are as I might ask them for help myself!

Try the attendance allowance or carers allowance I can’t remember which now it is 32 pages long. I am not stupid but I had help from the CAB filing that one in. How many people do not bother because of age, infirmity or lack of assistance I wonder.
I understand that a majority of claims for YOUR entitlement are refused just to see who comes back. That little nugget was told to me by the CAB.
I had to fight to get the above allowances despite documentary evidence from my Doctor and an Orthopaedic Specialist.
Still if I wan’t surgery on my back its a five year wait(despite them losing my notes and scans for three years) and I also need two new knee replacements and the catch is that they will pay to have them done privately on the NHS to the tune of £20,000 plus but not until my back is done. If I was a suspicious man I would think that as I am coming up to 70 I might die before they have to shell out for this. The couple of hundred pounds a week they pay my wife and I(she also needs a knee replacement) is a better option. Still a Government department would not think like that……….would they?

As for this thread not today but yesterday referring to the dimwits employed or the stupid regulations these employees are governed by, Basically refused my PIS benefit followed their directions on the letter exactly:- contact immediately if you want a reconsideration to discuss!, having done this previously I received a phone call asking why I wanted a reconsideration, explained was told she would ring again the following day with her decision, recieved the call only to be told she had made the decision but could not tell over the phone and I would receive a letter with the decision ?????
It’s no wonder people are so confused about claiming benefits it seems to me that the whole process let alone the DWP form is designed for people to fail and those that do get through the first round still have to prostate themselves in front of all an sundry just to obtain what they are entitled to, on a side note to this the letter they forward to you refuse say’s you said this,you said that on the form, the woman told my wife they do not base a decision on the form and those who claim really need to provide proof of what the applicant puts on form, when asked why it does not say that you MUST provide proof to each question she just replied that’s nothing to do with the DWP ???
It was the same answer to a similar question about the assessor:- they are nothing to do with the DWP ??? seems that they try and confuse the claimants at every turn, it just makes me so mad because I wonder how others get benefits such as those who have just turned up and held their hand out, those who cannot be arsed to work, those who have not put in to a system that was basically a safety net for those who fell on hard times through no fault of their own yet if I was an alcoholic,Druggy etc.etc. here you are no questions asked the rest who have worked for x amount of years you have jump when we say! 😡

My “angry moment” today came while in the Gents at my local Tesco store; having used the urinal, I was washing my hands, when a bloke came out of one of the sit-down stalls, stuck only his right hand (presumably it was the one with which he’d wiped himself) under the cold tap, shook off the excess water all over my shirt, then “dried” it, and walked out. What is so unmanly about washing germs off ones hands?

I can do better in that regard. About a decade ago I was at a Chinese buffet restaurant. Patrons were encouraged to use tongs to pick up various items of food, which ranged from Chinese cooking with a nod to authenticity right through to fried chicken, chips and ice-cream for the kids. A man, having previously loudly evacuated in the toilet stall, appeared briefly in the communal area of the gents toilet before heading straight back out into the main area of the restaurant. I’ve not been back since.

If you Google “Gordon Lang,” and make sure you get the right one, you’ll find they’ve backtracked, and things are improving. Apparently nobody had told them about his medical condition (allegedly); odd how not knowing is no defence for us peasants, but regularly gets trotted out for our lords and masters.
Sadly, these “jobs” seem to attract the worst types; my mate’s mother-in-law went to work for the Inland Revenue (as it was then,) but left, in disgust at the way staff were walking around, openly boasting of how they’d managed to get members of the public to pay too much tax.

Paul, Yes I believe thats the one. If you are elderly though, these Forms are very daunting to fill in, so much so, many elderly go without benefits they are entitled to simply because these forms are complicated for them to fill in.

I cannot remember the title of the book, but as it’s so hard to understand the paperwork the DWP sends out to claimants, this book, tells you not just how to fill the application forms out, but also gives the CORRECT answers to what the DWP want to know, It’s a way to get around the barriers the DWP set to deter many genuine claimants. May even be able to Google it, but it’s there somewhere.As I understand it, the guy who has just a few months to live, “I think” automaticaly should get the full amount. Up to a year to live is the max. However, things may have changed recently, but worth tracking down.

Thanks Geoff and thanks for the PM. And your amendment raises my concerns. Not sure about you but I wouldn’t trust the Sun further than I could throw it to be honest.

I think a more substantial source would be required before I gave more credence to the story, which doesn’t really make sense.

On page 14 of the SUN today is an article of yet another ex-serviceman a Falklands War veteran given short shrift by the DWP who despite being 62 Yr’s old Gordon Lang, An amputee and has Terminal Cancer with approximately 3 months to live received a letter in which the DWP urged him to find work.
He has been told that he must find suitable work as the DWP want to stop his £600 per month benefit. When he contacted the Shaw Trust who administer the DWP work programme this quote was in his reply:- ”When you feel fit and healthy and ready or work, we look forward to working with you to find a suitable job”
It’s a pity those who are doing the vetting of those who are on benefit do not look so close at those who are sitting on their collective arses and have never bothered to work, At the immigrants who flaunt their new found wealth to build there owned property’s in their country of birth etc.etc. before treating not just ex-servicemen and women like this but also those who have a genuine reason for not being able to work bloody disgusting IMHO. 😡

How an ex-service man has been turfed out on the streets and being refused a flat by his local council because he is not Alcohol or drugs dependant, seems to me that I am agreeing with my wife this country tends to reward those who are complete failures and act in a general anti social behaviour instead of helping those who obviously are the true needy.:mad:
