[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-01-03 AT 12:48 PM (GMT)]I’m just wondering what music your listening to at the moment? It could be a single,Album or on MP3.
The music industry can change pretty quick and so can tastes, so since the last time we discussed music, what new songs/albums are you interested in or bopping and boogying to?
Me, I am currently into dance and chillout music so the current album I am listening to is Melody A.M. by Royksopp. It is arguably one of the best releases of 2002 and unquestionably one of the most original.
Singles I am interested in are,
*Oxygen feat. Andrea Britton – ‘Am I on Your Mind’
*Electric Six – ‘Danger! High Voltage’
*Layo & Bushwacka – ‘Love Story’
*T.A.T.U – ‘All the Things She Said’
Yourselves?

Ashley,
The one you’re talking about it ‘Everybody’s free (to feel good)’ by Rosalla. A remix was released about a year ago, which was filmed in some aircraft museum with a rather over-the-top shining MiG-15 in the background.

RE: What Music Are You Listening To Now?
“I’m just wondering what music your listening to at the moment?”
Val Doonican, Doris Day, Frank Ifield, If I need something with a bit more energy I put a Shakin’ Stevens LP on the gramophone……
Seriously, I listen to a lot of classical stuff at the moment, nothing too heavy though. Also into music that tells a story, so I like some Irish folk and am currently listening to the Bomber’s Moon CD by Mike Harding, the Rochdale Cowboy. I’m afraid I just don’t get this modern stuff or metal for that matter. To me they are just variations on a theme, and no-one does that better than Paganini.
Geedee, seeing as you’re into country, what do you think of Garth Brooks? ‘Standing Outside the Fire’, ‘The River’, ‘We Shall Be Free’ and ‘The Dance’ are all superb tracks. ‘Standing Outside the Fire’ and ‘The Dance’ hold special significance for me.
You all really ought to try Val Doonican you know, his album with the free knitting pattern really was ground breaking….

RE: What Music Are You Listening To Now?
Viper01,
Like yourself I do not like nor appreciate like popular “music”. It is full of talentless nobodies who manipulate the music industry to make a quick million and then disappear. Many of these acts are corrupt, manufactured and most of all lack talent.
However, with regards to the artists representing Royksopp, I agree they do not have anything that can indicate as musical talent in terms of vocals, use of instruments etc but what they have done for dance and chillout is something, which has not been seen since the likes of Air. Their ambient electronica sounds is a prime example of how good contemporary electronica can be. The album also includes Infectious grooves, warm atmospheric tunes and a rather dreamy and flowing experience of what I have not listened to in a long time.
Yes better Albums have come out who do denote musical talent, the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Norah Jones for example, but in my opinion the sounds that Royksopp produce are outstanding. Against some of the artists, who have released albums this year, they do show an indication of talent in their field and understanding of what the music is about. Therefore in my opinion it was one of the best releases of 2002.
