We’ve probably all followed a music craze when we wuz young(er) and when you sit back and think about it, it’s like looking at old photographs…you cringe! (probably the hair style more than anything else)
Me, I’ll own up to being a Teddy Boy (all the trimmings…Crepe’s Drapes, quiff etc) for a number of years…mid 70’s…then I progressed onto heavy metal but got tired after a few years (Metal Fatigue ?)again all the stuff…faded denim cutoff’s, three pairs of jeans worn on top of each other…to hide the holes in the pair underneath !). Now, I’m more into Country and Western…but refrain from line dancing allthough I do own up to a pair of shorty cowboy boots and an Overlander (Aussie hat that looks a bit like a gunslingers !).
I never got into the Punk or MOD scene and to me modern ‘music’ is all *rs* about face…once upon a time the emphasis was on the vocals not the accompanying music, now its the other way round.
Come on, here’s your chance to own up…and with my track record, I certainly aint gonna larf !
Jeez…I should be locked away !
Cheers

RE: What music craze did you follow as a youngster ?
That’s amazing . I was a “Kiss” fan at this time too. The more I listen to it right now , the more I realize it’s crap …

During the 60s it was difficult not to take some kind of interest in the Beatles, the ‘Stones, the Who,and flower power stuff, which was good; but at the time I was mostly interested in the likes of Otis Redding, Sam and Dave and any other Stax artiste.
On the other side of the coin , I liked Hendrix and Clapton and anything to do with blues, early Led Zep and Deep purple.
i also liked early reggae stuff.
In 1976ish I first heard punk, man! if popular music needed an enema this was it, I was hooked, I love anything that evolved from it

I was litteraly the only kid in my school not caught up in the Kiss craze in the mid to late 70s. I still dont get how that clown act got so big.
