I do believe Vintage Wings of Canada’s Lysander will most likely fly this year (that’ll make 2 airworthy over here)

Also hope to see the Swordfish in the air again to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Navy.

As i was told the main issue is prop hubs.. or the lack of them. TFC have gone down every avenue including salvaged hubs in search of getting a couple serviceable, but so far no luck. Engines and spares such as tyres are also an issue. The tyres it stands on are all they have.
Yes a prop hub could be made from scratch, but the cost and paperwork involved would be prohibitive.

The Beau at Hendon has prop hubs I believe, although presumably they are not accurate/unserviceable. How difficult would it be to make one?
A shame that such small things are grounding one TFCs longest ever rebuild 🙁

The Sabina Old Timer’s Collection Lysander should be flying too, it was having engine runs towards the end of 2009.

Miles aircraft

Nobody has referred to the two “Miles” built aircraft which are (sadly) only being restored to Display condition. The Miles M100 Student, must surely be close to completion at the Musem of Berkshire Aviation at Reading, and the Miles buillt B206X at Shoreham was looking resplendent in a new coat of “Beagle Bronze” when I last looked in on the hangar:):)

Two Mosquitos to take flight, One in Canada and one in New Zealand.

I think the NZ one won’t be in the air before 2011 – the devil is in the detail…..
Also Bill Reids Avro Anson Mk1 with turret and all..

The P40C might make it.

SL633 should fly, but I imagine the Pr.XI and Mk.I are some way off yet.

‘633 is shown running up in the current FP. I hope it hangs around awhile before going across the pond

2010 Should be a cracking year.

Possibility of the TFC P47 flying (and the return of the rest of the fleet- including the gladiator of course)

Then on the continent we’ve got the ex-kindsvater buchon now in germany, the ex Ramon josa corsair being returned to the air also in germany, a new dutch p51, a full season for the redbull p38, and also the new sea fury for mr jacquard.

Also There’s the 2 RNHF Furies and swordfish and i would assume the Shuttleworth spit v later in the year as well.

Whats the word on HACs Hawker Fury I K5674 (G-CBZP). The photo on their website shows the fuselage to be largely complete, however this photo has been up there for a couple of years. Are they still having trouble sourcing an engine or rebuilding it?

Cheers, Huw:)

The Blenheim at Duxford in its Mk.1 reincarnation.

I’ve seen mentioned quite a number of times than the Blenheim’s nose will be swapped once airworthy, to portray a Mk IV at times – anyone know if this will still go ahead, and any idea of the frequency they’ll be doing it? Seems quite a hassle, not just the change of nose but also the change of markings/serial number

surely 2010 will be the year for the HAC Yak 1. Been rumoured to be nearing completion for a while now.

Has there been anymore news on the fighter collection and if they can fly this year at Legends etc or are the CAA still doing whatever they were doing last year?

Merlin Beaufighters were a handful to operate and not liked by those who flew them.

Can’t they hang Merlins on it?

I rather thought the Beau’s “engine troubles” were that there aren’t any useable engines wahtsoever (military-spec. Herucles, that is)
Shame, really. Maybe they should bolt on some Merlins, paint it black and pretend it’s a Beaufighter II…:p

I know a man who has a couple of really nice hercules engines one definately war period and probably the right one.he also has all the machinery etc to manufacture hubs in his engineering company.
