Hi guys and gals,
I am going to Florida in November and wanted to know what attractions there are over there. No, i’m not talking about Mickey and his chums – done them lots of times. I’m talking about historical aviation sites, museums and the like. And before you say it, I have been to Kissimmee a couple of times (and will probably go there again this time).
Over to you…
Tony.

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but does anyone know how easy (or otherwise) it is to get from Orlando to Fantasy of Flight by public transport? Thanks for any advice.
I would think it would be very difficult if nigh on impossible to use public transport for that journey……….
Outside of the major US cities, and interstate routes, public transport is, err …….. not usually any sort of option.

Well-nigh impossible, I think.
This thread on Trip Advisor is a few years old, but I doubt much has changed.

Closest bus I can find would get you no closer than about 10 miles…

You can watch shuttle launches from anywhere in Florida,
Yup, I watch the rocket launches from Vandenburg AFB & that’s 2 counties over from here, over 100 miles away from my front yard… altrho if you want to hear/feel them you have to be somewhat closer…

A Google search brings up a Wolverhampton Aviation Group report from the Orlando Area

JDK -Sun Fun is April time although the small museum is worth a visit. The Tempest and Lysander were outside last time I was there and suffering!
Kissimee isnt as much fun without Tom Reilly
Valiant Air Command is superb and I prefer to Fantasy.

You can watch shuttle launches from anywhere in Florida, I watched the first launch after the challenger disaster from our hotel pool in Orlando.
Kissimee is always an interesting place if you are further north there is a good museum near Eglin.

apparently anywhere within 15 miles of the Space centre road is good enough. Cocoa Beach or Titusville. You won’t get on the island. Expect to hold your position for at least six hours to get a good view….. I got to T – 4 seconds before it was cancelled………

Shuttle launch
Sorry to drag this thread up again but I’ve just seen that there is a Shuttle launch planned for when we are there (1st Nov).
Any ideas where the best place to be to see this event? How close do we have to be to get a good view?
Tony.
