what type of A/C were they flying ?

The graves of this crew are in Corsica, in Biguglia.
They obviously were in the same aircraft, on this fateful day of 12 May 1944.

can somebody tell me the type of aircraft they were flying, and the background of this event ?

TIA

Capt Dennis Lovat (SAAF) is recorded as being killed on ground during enemy bombing whilst attached to 238 Sqn RAF.

Googling “Corsica, 12 May 1944” brings up “WW2 TALK” website which lists most of these names, as being killed during an air raid.
They were not in an aircraft.

I would also say a non flying accident as have not heard of LAC1 ranks etc on air crew duties, unless they were part of a working party flying somewhere?
