And supply and demand .. as they become harder to find, I cant remember the last time i seen one for sale, .. its also worth noting , a good cockpit seems to go for more money than a complete aircraft, this must be down to more people wanting a cockpit, and less problems with removal, storage, etc.
I imagine to strip down a hulk and removal to another place of residence is quite a operation, and very costly.
If I had the room, and money, I would have jumped at the chance a long time ago, you could’nt ask for a more iconic british 50s aircraft than the hunter 😀

If I had the resources it would probably be the plane I would most like to own and be flown in – so a T version is essential.

Bringing ethics and Harris into this thread is totally irrelevant. But the last post is correct. The value of anything is what anyone is prepared to pay for it at any given time.

Any object is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay as the antique dealers will tell you.

gooday all
Value is a very subjective term. To me any Hunter has a negative value, if I were given one. I would have to hangar it and preserve it in good condition. I don’t want to have to do that, so it would just be a millstone around my neck.
On the other hand it I had a flying Hunter of the same model, then as a source of spare bolts, fittings etc it could have significient value.
To a scrapper, its the value of the metal that they can sell less the costs of scrapping less the cost of recovery of the metal.
As can be seen “Value” is a highly subjective thing – its situational
bit like ethics (think Bomber Harris – is he a war criminal?)
cheers

The last ‘free’ one I was offered (summer 2010) – suddenly had its value raised to £7,500!!
