What was the 'UK airshow first' planned for Kemble airshow this weekend?

… I’m currently at the show but can’t see anything out of the ordinary…

Obviously they knocked the mutliple Hurricanes (2 in flyast), fast taxying Canberra PR.9, Seafire, and AR213 into a cocked hat!

I think the shows are looking for things to pad a display out now, and the King Air and DA40 fitted.

I’m not knocking the show James, but when someone from Kemble announces there will be a couple of surprises – one being a ‘UK airshow first’ at an airshow that has a reputation for ‘classic jets’ etc, then one naturally thinks it will be a classic jet ‘first’ for the UK. I wasn’t the only one by some way who came to that conclusion.

On a positive note, I thought the airshow was very well organised – we drove in and out of the show with no queueing, toilet facilities were excellent, ticket prices respectable and even the weather played ball (on Sunday at least)!

Perhaps they were actually thinking of a ‘special’ King Air and a DA42, like one of the assorted spooky King Airs nominally based at Waddington and one of the DA42 working out of Boscombe Down?

That depends on your definition of ordinary.

So I have foundout what these ‘UK firsts’ were… there was me getting excited about perhaps the J29 Tunnan/Lansen pair or maybe even the Swiss Mirage 111 (CAA allow this??) and the outcome was… (drum roll please…) a ‘special’ King Air & a DA 40 whatever that is. 😡

The opportunity be able to walk the flightline and get no closer than not walking the flightline…?:diablo: Ah well at least the RAFBF got some money out of it.

That’s not fair – you were all of ten feet closer……
