Just had this picture sent to me by a mate, there are 6 Types in the picture, where is it and when was it taken ? Its not a quiz , I just dont know ( well I know the aircraft) but not the rest.I’ll guess its far east by the camo.

Greetings,

I’ve been reading this forum for nearly a year now, and read it daily. So fascinating !

Reading this post prompted me to post for the first time.

When I was a boy of 5 in 1975, we lived in Singapore because my father was in the NZ Army Overseas Detachment.
Anyway, he used to fly RC model aircraft out at the old Changi Airbase.

I remember seeing a derilect Gloster Javelin lying off the side of the runway and wondered if anyone has any information on this (ie whether it was an takeoff/landing accident)

Looked on the ThunderandLightnings website but didn’t see anything.

Cheers

Certainly are Singapore AF FR74s – gorgous!!
Cant quite tell if they have r/w/r roundels or the ying/yang roundel, introduced in ’73. They now have a stylized lions head as national marking.

With a Britt and type D RAF roundels all round , that would date it to ’72-’74.

Now lets get this line up right!

Obviously Hunters and a taxying Vulcan then r-l a Hercules, Brittannia, VC10 and Nimrod (fin fillet can be seen which Comet didnt have)

Did someone mention a Shackelton? and what on earth are “rear wings”!?

I was a service dependent-my father was stationed at Changi 1968-71. The photo is of the dispersal at the far side of the airfield. Singapore AF A/C had/have(?) red/white roundels.

Thanks David,
The picture is not too clear when you enlarge it so I could not see all of the markings, I could just make out the Brit and Nimrod in the background.
Were you stationed there ?

The photo was taken at RAF Changi, Singapore, after the Singapore AF had equipped with Hunters and obviously before the RAF finally left in 1973.

Hope this helps
