What will be the show stoppers for 2013?

I’m off to Toronto, Hamilton to (hopefully) see the Mossie, Lanc, Spit and Hurricane in formation. That will be my 2013 highlight.
What will be yours?

Not quite a F6 on full burner but this is a Lightning flying along Boscombe Down’s main runway.

I have had my prayers answered already: DH-98 – FB-26 Mosquito KA114 and two MkIX Spitfires, a P51D Mustang, two Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawks, a Chance Vaught F4U Corsair, Avro Anson Mk1, 8 or 9 Harvards, two de Havilland DH 115 T.55 Vampires, a de Havilland Venom, BAC Strikemaster, 3 Aero Vodochody L-39C Albatross jets, 8 or 9 Yaks and a huge variety of WWI DH aircraft and Triplanes and some other DH craft such as the DH 84 Dragon and I think a Domine as well, plus a DHC-2 Beaver then there were the NZRAF types there as well – a Boeing 757 – impressive flypast, and the old C130 Herc, a P-3K Orion flyover; and air displays of the UH-1H Iroguois, the KAMAN SH-2G Seasprite, an NH 90 – Iroquois replacement, and a AW A109LUH as a transition rotary wing craft.

This all at a country town aerodrome. A fabulous weekend with my wife too, and I am living on that for the rest of the year!! Wings over Wairarapa Airshow. Plenty of small craft action in NZ!

Graeme

For me it has to be the Fury, although Hurricane P2902, Gladiator N5903, Canberra XH134 and Comet G-ACSS are definitely contenders.

It would be great to have 3 Catalina’s doing a slow and wide formation flyby 😉

Charlie Brown and the Fury at DX please – needs a camera in the office to capture the grin under the ‘tache!

The Fighter collection cats – tail chasing – but with a respectable gap to get all of the engine notes seperately!……….pet hate that they used to always fly in formation!

DH88 at Old Warden ……the new P40C at DX

Probably too hopeful but the Blenheim……?

Finally……….as usual Mr Grey as the Joker.

Remember when Lightnings used to do that at the start of air shows in the 60’s when I was at RAF Acklington. Straight down the runway low and rather fast, pull up, re-heat and then you heard it. 😀

For me it can only be a Lightning F6 doing several (very) low level fly bys down the length of the runway at Boscombe Down in full afterburner! 😀

Shacklelton. Lancaster. as many Hurricanes in the air at one time with a nice BoB scramble.
to be honest I am looking forward to seeing any vintage machine in the skies this year.

Can we have something like the Fighter Meet back please.

Canberra XH134 will be a highlight for me too, as would WK163 if it returns to the circuit this year.
I’m very keen to see the return of the Sea Vixen and Sabre to UK skies as well.

However, I reckon my other highlights will be the Phantom formations at Wittmund, the SwAF Historic Flight at Gothenburg and the Russian Knights at Kecskemet.

Everything that makes it to Leuchars this year will be a show stopper now that they have finally confirmed it for the 7th of September.
