Kev you’re quite right, there’s an awful lot of people that will be effected if anything should happen to the Mytravel group of companies. It’s not just the airline that will go, there are so many other companies in the travel/tour operation industry that are owned by the Mytravel /Airtours group.
Reading the financial press I understand that should the parent company go bankrupt some of the possibly profitable divisions may continue to operate, the airline for example. Mytravel Airways like all charter airlines are paid up front well in advance of a flying season by thosess tour operators that purchase blocks of seats on their flights. Bookings then made during the season by travel agents and customers then hopefully provide enough cash flow to allow the airline to continue to operate, if this is sufficient of course. The MYT aircraft and routes may be taken over by another company, retaining the flying crew hopefully.
I feel for all those people working for Mytravel with the companies troubles being constanly in the media. I hope it gets sorted out soon and the company has some stability.

I can confirm the other MyTravel lite A320 is G-FHAJ, which I saw at BCN the other week, doing some kind of football charter… π

‘What will happen to My Travel if they go bankrupt.’
What will happen is that many people will lose their jobs, as a result of this they may lose their homes, accrue substantial debt, have marital problems, the list is endless. Others will lose their holidays. Lives WILL be turned upside down.
This is where rumours can have a devastating effect. MYT have a significant amount of debt. Anyone with any compassion will hope they can turn things around to avoid the consequences described above.
This is not the place to speculate on such matters.

Yeah I agree, but you said ‘obviously they have as I haven’t seen them at MAN’ after someone said are they closed down. When they are going good at BHX still.
By: Arabella-Cox - 10th April 2004 at 20:26
Nothing wrong with asking, that’s what “people” do.
By: LBARULES - 10th April 2004 at 20:08
Totally agree, just because MYT Lite doesen’t operate from one airport anymore certinaly doesen’t mean they’ve gone bust. Just check their website or the BHX arrivals board to see they are still going.

I think you guys should stop making these comments without any foundation, the simplest thing to do would surely be checking My Travel Lite’s web site rather than making unfounded claims.
A little research goes along way guys. Keep posting, but find some foundation for your posts first.

No Lite is still going strong at the moment. As for First Choice taking over, the word in the industry is they can’t afford to take on the 900 million debt that Mytravel are in.
By: LBARULES - 10th April 2004 at 19:58
First Choice taking over? Give me a break!
I dont know how much longer MYT Lite will keep going but they are still going strong from BHX with a fair few flights every day. I think they have 2 other A320s… G-SSAS and G-FHAJ I think?
I can only think that their services from MAN were cancelled due to a lack of demand. The 1st two routes were a bit strange (MJV and TFS). I think alot of the time the flights from TFS were put on a bigger a/c and combined with the MYT mainline flight.

hhhhmmmmm…:( π
Does anyone know if this is true?I havn’t see their planes at MAN on their new services, obviously they have!!!!
