Upon retiring the A-7 Corsair II, what is the Hellenic Air Force
plan to use as a replacement. It won’t happen for a few more years, but I was thinking about a suitable replacement. Are they planning to rely on the F-16’s, M-2000’s and whatever the new
fighter jet will be (EF-2000, Rafale, etc.)? I’m sure they all have very good air to ground capabilities, but I would have thought the HAF would want them commited to Air Defense and interception. Maybe they’ll opt for a few JSF’s on top of their new
fighter acquisition. If that’ll cost too much, they could allways get
a cheaper attacker/trainer, like the Yak-130D or the Mig-AT from Russia, or even an Aero L-159 from the Czechs.
I’d hate to see the A-7 go. I love the way it looks.
But all good things must come to an end.:(
