What will survive?

With all this down turn in the aviation industry which airlines will survive, which will go and who will take over who?

Will this affect the types of aircraft being built?
Will it mean airlines will only buy smaller aircraft say 777`s instead of 747`s?

Will this change everything and we will get more airlines joining together to share all the routes instead of competing with one another?

Or is this just another storm in a teacup and in 2 or 3 years time will we be back to normal with airlines back expanding their networks again?

More importantly what will this do to fares will they come down to try and attract more customers or will they go up to try and build airlines profits back up?
