What Would YOU Do In A Terrorist Attack

Hi Guys,

I’ve just been reading some guidelines on aviation safety and just wondered what YOU would do if you were on a hijacked plane.

Personally, I’d have to put up one hell of a fight…………what’s the point in sitting down and waiting for the end. Maybe I’d have other passengers join in……….you’re more likely to succeed if you outnumber the enemy (3:1 is a good ratio 😉 )

I’d rather die trying to save the aircraft, passengers and crew than saying my prayers and making peace with God.

Mark.

By the way………..I blooming HATE terrorists 😡 😡 😡

The best thing to do is to stay calm and try to build up a concenssus of what to do and when to do with others onboard…If there are say 5-6 terrorists then u’re looking at about 10-12 willing people to do the trick remembering that it only takes a few to pin em down cuz u have the element of surprise with u..Secondly the most important thing to do is to organize a counterattack in such a way as to give them little reactionary time to say do something radical like charge the cockpit in desperate attempt..Speed and Surprise are the key..Once the initial attack is made by 6-10 people the ripple effect of other less willing passengers will naturally follow..However u have to wait for the response from the actual security people present on the aircraft which are armed with Dum Dum Bullets etc etc..However the situation is a catch 22 the marshals onboard are probably communicating with one another and probably have a plan in place to counter the terrorists and deal with them..Unnec. heroics from a avg joe passenger might work adversly for them

Thanks ,seems blindingly obvious to me . Must be some reason it’s not been done . Any ideas why?

Would it be too much to ask for a big red panic button to be fitted in the cockpit. At the first sign of trouble the pilot hits the thing and the plane then flies on autopilot to the nearest suitable airfield and lands without human intervention. This at least frees up two more people to fight the cause, and,in the event of the pilots being killed the plane still lands saftely.

Not a bad idea. 😉

perhaps all the world needs is to give a care bear to our disgruntled militant friends.

Now that is what I call propaganda.

I would try to overwhelm the cabin crew, and either fly to Cuba to apply for political asylum, or fly into a building to make a statement.

But that’s just me.

Hey, I would do the same but it must depend on the situation.

Don’t say things like that Mark unless you know who or what you are talking about. My Uncle, at 82 years of age, fought off his attacker. Three weeks later we buried him so don’t be flippant about murder.

My Condolences to you Kev 🙁 🙁 🙁 I don’t mean to cause any offence but if I do then tell me to get lost………….It’s just that this town that I am in at the moment is litterally a war zone…………I defend the people who can’t defend themselves (elderly who have their homes burgled and who get mugged etc – we do it by the book and find out information to report to the police) the down side is that I have people trying to harm me who I’ve never even heard of in my life (druggies mostly)……………The last time, I only got away with cuts and bruises because a friend of mine cut he wrists and my brother came to find me……………came close to needing a fresh pair of underwear for christmas 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀

I do however take pride in the fact that I am willing to stick my neck on the line for people who have done so much for our country (war veterans etc) 🙂

Admirable sentiment. There is, of course, the possibility you might turn into a gibbering wreck whose sole contribution to the event is to soil yourself. We can all say what we ‘think’ we’d do, however, until placed in such a situation none of us will ever really know.

There is always that Kev but I’ve brushed death so many times recently that I am pretty much used to it……….by all rights I should already have been murdered 🙁 🙁 🙁 Mark 😀

It would have been easy if we had some sort of a weapon like a knife so you can throw it at the hijacker, and CUT! There goes his blood…

You jest surely……how old are you????????

The very last thing these people want is a gun-battle with security forces – a spectacular failure would damage more than just their headcount.

True…….Very True. I guess we’d just have to keep our eyes open.

they may think that we don’t expect them to walk into “our trap”.

Ah… but they may think that we think that they think that we don’t expect them to walk into “our trap”. You can carry that line of reasoning on ad infinitum.

Far more productive from their point of view to attack another “soft” target and take everyone by surprise.

A re-run of the events of 11th September 2001 is pretty unlikely, given that a key element in the strategy of the terrorist is surprise.

Terrorists are hardly going to be so co-operative as to walk headlong into the heightened security measures in place in today’s air transport sector, are they?

The next outrage (and there will be a next outrage, sadly) will be just as unexpected in nature as the events of that dreadful day were.

Maybe they will walk straight into the security measures……….they would have to to be able to get onboard the aircraft.

Maybe that’s where the element of suprise would come from…….they may think that we don’t expect them to walk into “our trap”.

Trying to second guess terrorists is not something to do (I’m guessing), they are out to cause Terror at any cost hence they are called Terrorists
