Been looking at some old airshow programmes over the last few days. It struck me how many display pilots just disappear and move on to other things…
So whatever happened to these?
John Conner – Daily Express Stampe SV4
Keith Sissons – B17 ‘Sally B’
Howard Timm – Zlin 526
Warwick Brady – Fighter Collection
Steve Johnson – Fighter Collection
Gary Numan – Harvard etc
Stefan Karwowski – Gnat
Denny Dobson – Extra 300
Bob (& Hilary) Mitchell – Ryan squadron

Just re-reading this thread – Both Dave Roome and Martin Stoner have retired from FRADU. Indeed ‘Stumpy’ flew his last sortie yesterday (29th Feb).
As regards the ex-Exeter pilots: (may all be out of date now)
Keith Hartley – lives in Australia.
Boz Robinson – flitting between China and the UK.
John Aldington – retired from the airlines
Craig Penrice – moved and working in the USA.
Had wondered where Keith H was these days.
Craig P works for LM at Fort Worth on the F-35 project IIRC.

Alan Walker, haven’t heard anything of him since the T-33 crash
I think Al is currently involved with the new Classic Aircraft Trust, at Coventry,I saw him in the carpark there last week! Not sure if he is still flying ‘interesting ‘ aircraft anymore though.

Stumpy Stoner is flying at Culdrose with FRADU along with Dave Roome. Andy Wyatt flies for BA and the Breitling Wingwalkers. Gordon Hannam last heard of flying for Cathay and living in Hong Kong….

Although Keith Sissons is no longer flying displays, he remains actively involved as a member of council of the Historic Aircraft Association.

Carl Schofield still flies for the Fighter Collection.. Will HE be at legends 2012?
Pete Jarvis has retired from the display world and now appears on the Shoreham Flying Control Committee.
Both flew the Tiger Club Stampe Duo in the 70s and 80s

While watching the credits for Piece of Cake I noticed Carl Schofield, a name which rings a bell in the 80’s 90’s.
Is he still around and what did he used to fly?

Martin Stoner & Dave Roome went off to fly Hawks with FRADU at Culdrose.
Andy Wyatt does (did) some occasional display flying for Vic Norman in the Breitling Stearman’s now and then.

Did this not crash at Barton killing the owner?
Yes it did, it was not Bob Mitchel however who I think had owned it before, Bob is still alive and well and has his collection of A/C at Sleap Airfield.

Steve Noujaim flys/instructs for Ultimate High at Kemble, flies warbirds at Duxford and pays for his beer as an airline pilot, not to mention doing a bit of record-breaking……! 🙂
I read about his record breaking but that’s the 1st I’ve heard about him since Paul Morgan died. What warbirds does he fly at Duxford?

Don’t quote me but I believe Andy Gent flies, or has flown, for Martin-Baker in the Meteors.

Wasn’t Craig Penrice badly injured in an ejection from a Hunter?
Seems so:
