I was always a BIG Dr.Who fan and Tom Baker was my favourite Doctor. And, I absolutely LOVE Red dwarf! 🙂 🙂

RE: What’s everyones take on Star Trek: Enterprise???

I do enjoy stargate… in the first few programs Macgiver is actually keen to use firearms and is cynical of the US government.
In the later series he still shows that it was always the Russians who are the bad guys that can’t be trusted (it was never anything to do with communism).
Plus the blonde is quite nice.

I also like farscape, and Dr Who, but my absolute favourite Sci Fi is Red Dwarf… 🙂
(For those who have never seen Red dwarf… imagine one inept human, one anal hologram, one creature that evolved from the ships cat and a moron for a ships computer… a real hoot.)

RE: What’s everyones take on Star Trek: Enterprise???

i think they have got the vulcans wrong (they are unemotinoal) but overal good so far (only episode 1 on tv so far)

for us teristial tv people though watching it with adverts is really anoying – i love the lsicene fee even more now, no adds is brilliant

star gat and the x files are great – though the x files is anoying that they keep holding you on the precipeice of breaching the conspiracy and then they don’t get it = hence very confusing

RE: What’s everyones take on Star Trek: Enterprise???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-07-02 AT 02:25 PM (GMT)]In my opinion Enterprise is a great idea that hasnt really been thought through properly. The fact that the ship is “early” technology isnt enough really to set this much earlier than Next Generation or the spinoff shows.

The captain, Scot Bakula, is still every bit as “enlightened” as Picard or the terribly politically-correct african-american or female captains that followed him. There’s none of the “We come in peace….phasers on kill” that the 60’s Kirk series embodied yet we are to believe that mankind evolved from the Enterprise generation to Kirks?! Doesnt fit to me really…like all the Star Trek legacy shows its good mindless entertainment though!

For a good sci-fi show, with a tremendous storyline and a plausible setting you should watch Babylon 5. Still a little predictable but at least in this future vision people are still recognisable as having evolved from today’s world i.e theyre are still corrupt politicians, druggies, “black” organisations etc, etc. There are no magical force fields or matter-energy transporters and the vessel designs (including the station itself – a wonderful rendition of a Heinlein “Universe Ship”) are all very well researched.

If you want the “definitive” good future-telling sci-fi story though read Arthur C Clarkes “3001” one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read.

RE: What’s everyones take on Star Trek: Enterprise???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-07-02 AT 01:41 PM (GMT)]i don’t believe in prequels, it somehow takes away from the suspense of not knowing what happens at the end of a series ie we know in 100 years time Kirk & Spock will turn up then 70years after them Next generation and so on…Although they are filmed to be more realistic you somehow wished they could teleport in and out of hotspots and travel at warp 9.5 outrunning the borg & romulans.

If you want to watch a Sci-fi show on TV you should watch Stargate-sgi or X-files!

RE: What’s everyones take on Star Trek: Enterprise???

I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve seen a few episodes on satellite and enjoyed them all. I think Scott Bakula is the right man to play Archer and I’m sure the other characters will evolve as well.

I think the big thing about Enterprise is that it is without the rules that bound the other series. There is no prime directive so their meetings with other species are not bound by the rules of non-interference.

I haven’t seen it myself, though a friend of mine who is into Star Trek has watched it and one of the things he likes about it is that the technology is new. (ie transporter ships are still used because the teleport technology is still imature etc etc… ie everything is not perfect like in other startrek programs… a little bit more realistic perhaps?)

Not bad I feel. I have watched a few episodes, and you can see how some of the characters have been modelled around those from Voyager. I preferred Voyager, and usually never missed it, but the new Enterprose show doesn’t draw me as much – yet.
