What has happened to the national airline of Afghanistan Airana Afghan,since the war started there?Have any of there aircraft been destroyed or have they gone in storage at another airport in the Middle East?Also do they plan to start up operatins again after Taleban were defeated or have the airports in Kabul and Jalabad,where there main oerations were from,been totaly destroyed?
There fleet before the war consisted of:
2 AN-12
3 AN-24
2 727-100
1 727-200
1 DHC-6
1 TU-154

I heard somewhere that they were planning to get permision to fly from Kabul to Abu Dhabi,can anyone confirm that that is true?

I don’t think the 727’s will be flying long – the US has put embargo’s on trade between the 2 countries and it wont be long before such a small fleet will need support.

Well they will be starting operatons in near future……but first flight to Kabul is soon starting. Mahan Air of Iran will be starting flights to Kabul and then on to Delhi.

I read an article the other day in a news site that 2 planes had survived and they are looking at resuming operations in a limited capacity in the near future.The a/c that remain is a 727 and a antonov of some description but i am not sure which one it is.They are re employing ex staff to from what i read
