What's happened to the Romanian P51 production line?

Warbirds Worldwide, June 2000:

“A New York company calling themselves Millenium Classics have aquired Wilson Edwards’ ex Fuerza Aerea Guatemala P-51D Mustang N74190 alias serial 44-74452 which has been in storage in Big Spring since its recovery in August 1972. The aircraft was dismantled in Texas for shipment to Romania where, claim the company, they will commence the manufacture of completely new P-51D Mustangs…”

Does anyone have an update on this project?

Thanks for the update gents, I came across it while thumbing through the last edition of WW (sniff).

It sounded a really exciting project, but as on so many occassions, only some reach fruition.

Would it not depend upon how early on you involved the CAA in your discussions rather than simply presenting them with the finished item, saying “I’m going to fly this, you don’t have a problem do you?”

This gets a brief mention in the new Mustang book by Paul coggan

It looks like a bit of a non starter, the airframe is still in the states as Yak 11 mentioned

I’m not sure if it ever got going, last I heard the Mustang was still in America. Interestingly Flug Werke were threatening to start manufacturing Mustang structures last year but I haven’t heard anything since.
