Whats happening to Alitalia then? 3 days before they run out of money and the last I heard was that they had agreed deals with all but 1 union. That was last Friday so unless they’ve kept it hushed their cutting it a bit fine are’nt they? I know that a 742 went in August and last week a 763 went to Aeroflot. A bit odd their getting rid of long haul aircraft as a few weeks ago they said they’d be buying some lh planes from Boeing in 2008.

Flying AZ was always a bit like flying in a state owned airline. You always felt like you should be happy to get a ticket and not them being happy that you bought one.
Customer satisfaction must become a term known to the staff.

You have a point about catering. I haven’t had a problem with the quality of food, but a few years back they changed there catering equipment. Not only did it cost a fortune but it was also rubbish quality. Can remember glasses going through the washer and coming out the other side minus the stems?? Also a bad move replacing the B747 with the MD-11. AZ had good cargo loads going into Africa and then suddenly the MD-11 screwed that up. Tried increasing number of flights, but PAX figures didn’t warrant this. What a disaster! AZ had some lovely cabin crew, but what an attitude??????? Cabin crew could certainly do with some training in customer relations. Still like there colour scheme though, and I for one would miss them…….

I think it has to be knocked down an restarted but this is severley restricted because of all the staff. Its business but lifes have to be thought of.Alitalia want to shed 6000 jobs.If the staff were probably utilised they wouldnt even have 6000 staff.

Interflug nobody mention Ryanair.if Alitalia wants to survive catering must go for a while at least and becoming more punctual wouldnt hurt. When i look at a arrivals board Az and ib stand out as having bad punctuality and LH and Sk have excellent punctuality. Why are AZ always late.I saw their DUB-MXp flight departing today at 4 on the way home.It should have left a while before that.
I have an Italian freined and he says thats why he avoids Alitalia.
I don’t think that catering is the point. My wife is Italian-Australian and her parents, grandparents etc are all Italian immigrants. Their POV is that Alitalia got really low loads on Oz flights because of their really poor levels of service. And remember that Australia is home to perhaps the 3rd highest number of Italians in the world, after Italy itself and the USA!
After a horrible FCO-MIL experience 2 years ago I see their point: cabin crew were VERY rude to the extent of me wishing for AZ to go bankrupt!

I’d agree with that Matthew. It won’t be an easy task. They seem more of a basket case than Olympic was, although many of the problems appear to be similar.
