What's The Worst Thing You've Ever Eaten

What’s the worst food you’ve ever had?

I once bought some “smoked ham and venison” sausages which were disgusting, there was a bone in them.

Then I once had some Dairylea cheese and there was a bone in that.

Then I once had waterzooi ( a Belgian dish with chicken and fish and things stewed in water) which was totally tasteless and put me off the stuff for life.

Then I once had some cheap fishfingers when I was small and there was a large bone in them.

Add coriander to the list – makes me heave to think about it!!
The weird taste!! I once had some squid in our local Thai, and all I could taste after that was bloody coriander. I went to an Italian restaurant in Dublin the other week to have some spaghetti carbonara. It was going down nicely until I discovered that they had added chopped coriander to the sauce, and I couldn’t eat any more.

And about those chicken feet … that’s nasty too.

And what even more nasty is the pigs feet that you see in deli jars. Disgusting!

And pickled eggs … yuk!!!!!!! Vomit!

And … McDonalds Big Mac … nasty too! Never again! BTW, a while back, someone found a chicken head in the chicken McNuggets. Nasty!!!

You don’t see that worm stuff anymore, at least not where I live. I could never see the point of the worm, somehow!!
I was once about to eat a piece of watercress, and just in time I discovered a live snail under the leaf I had picked out. Good job I saw it, because, as my veterinary textbooks tell me, the snail which is found in watercress is a host for liver fluke.

Also, had some supermarket beef the other week and I literally could not cut it, it was so damned tough!!

Many years ago I scoffed the worm thingy at the bottom of a bottle of Mescal for a bet. I was Ok for about half an hour but after that the next 18hrs are a blank. Was it the worm or was it the tequila… who knows, one thing is for certain, Never Again !!

Pickled Octopus in Paphos, Cyprus. God! was that disgusting. It was like eating a rubber boot soaked in vinegar. I managed to eat a leg without yacking. Ben, a lad I was with eat a whole one and then yacked his ring up. Green gunk and rice everywhere. So we opened up one of the little blighters stomachs to find it full of green slimey seaweed and maggots.

Makes me heave just typing this.

KFC isn’t really consistent. The one at Vaclave Namesti in Prague is pretty decent (ate there more than once, if that’s an indication) while there are a few which made me think if a can of cold ravioli or dog food wouldn’t have been a better choice.

KFC’s. Yuk! And Gentse waterzooi ofcourse. I once at it when I was a child. The simple smell of it makes me puke.

Oysters are the best, and so are snails filled with Garlic. Yummie! Don’t know about maggots.

Maggots – some ba5tard put Maggots in my Cheese and Onion Sandwiches on a fishing trip once and I was too pissed to notice , until it was pointed out to me halfway through them.

Add underdone potatoes of any description – mash, chips, roast and baked potatoes are horrid if you happen to find a hard bit in them.

Hmmm……………….
But I have to say an unripe persimmon someone gave me once.
I felt as if I had eaten a bathrobe.
And whatever you do, never, ever, ever eat wasabi.
Futurshox: You’re right chicken feet is an acquired taste. But I have it, and like them.

Mine has to be Sushi, and lots of it.
I went to Bahrain the other week and had a proper Japanese experience.
12 portions of different raw fish, fish eggs, god knows what else.
I liked most of it, but it got too much

I couldn’t believe them! Near us at one point in Whitby was a tiny Japanese woman with even tinier children, eating fish and chips. A seagull attacked them quite viciously to steal their food – the mother had to defend her kids from it.

We were amazed, having been in Oban, Scotland, the week before where the seagulls were so well behaved. Even when eating fish and chips right in front of them, they took no notice.

Oh, and if you want the best fish and chips in the UK, eat them in Oban. Best I’ve ever had!

Had oysters once, really liked them but part of the fun was the situation…
[stupid anecdote]
It was on a spotting trip to Cazaux (south-western part of France, there was a LIVEX exercise going on plus of course the Singaporese Skyhawks, great fun!), when we decided the nearest decent town to get something to eat and a place to sleep was Arcachon, on the Atlantic coast.
Lots of fun, especially since the Festival of Feminine Film was going on… imagine a bunch of very smelly, hairy, dirty and extremely masculine guys slurping down oysters in a restaurant otherwise filled with Feminine Film Fans…
[/stupid anecdote]

As for the worst food i’ve ever eaten: i think it must have been some strange cold stroganoff-esque liver dish in Latvia once. The first two bites weren’t all that bad as i managed to swallow the bits in all, but by the time my mouth had discovered the texture of the food it was eating… a gag and choke with every bite.

The food which made me feel worst was actually simple MacDonald’s stuff. I was really hungry and tired, and at some point it was time to get at least something to eat – not taking too much time, it was on the way home from yet another spotting trip. So we decided we take a burger at McD (i think the one near the E25 at Metz).
The food itself got down well, tasted typically bland-greasy-not-too-bad like any McD food, and since i was really hungry (hadn’t eaten anything apart from a bit of bread at breakfast, more than a fully circled clock earlier) i ate it really fast.
But after half an hour or so, i had this terrible feeling my stomache was tasting renowned McD flavour. It really felt like i had a lump of that food deep inside my body. First i found it only a bit funny, and luckily i didn’t get nauseous (hardly ever do). But when the feeling lasted until i fell asleep later, and lingered on for a full three more days, i did get absolutely repulsed by that food. Never ate at a McD again.

Here’s one waiting for a similar experience with Burger King…

The very thought of eating oysters is enough to make you feel sick, I think.

Oysters !!
You might think , oysters are good , so do I.

But in this case it was a bit special. I was on a business trip in Tokyo and we had a fancy dinner with our Japanese guest.

Since the menu was quite mysterious to me I focussed on familiar stuff: oysters; the problem was that I only got 3 oysters and each of them was 20 cm big.

You can imagine how it is to swallow this porr thing still alive and that big . Disgusting …..

I didn’t want to be unpolite but I had hard time believe me 🙁
