What's this (a Cargomaster)?

An old box brownie photo taken at, I think, a Biggin Hill Air Fair some time in the 1960s. Can anyone identify the year and the serial of the (?) Cargomaster (US military transport aircraft are not my forté!).

Diables Rouges – Fouga Magisters.

AFAIK The Frecce Tricolore were not there that year.

Diables Rouge

Flying what? I think that there is a memory trigger in that. Also deep in the bowels of that same memory is something about the Frecce Tricolore (sorry if that’s mis-spelt) and Fiat G.91s.

Could this be in support of the Thunderbirds ? or have I got the wrong year……..(F100 Super Sabres, did most of the display in the distance)

Not as far as I know …the only other USAF involvement that I logged was 60146( C-141A) and just two anonymous F-100s that did a pass in the distance…

Aerobatic teams were Diables Rouge & Red Arrows.

I’m probably more ancient than you – I was at Biggin Air Fair both in 64 and 67. If you have any other photos from the same day I could confirm which year your Globemaster pic was taken

Sorry. I’m on the wrong side of the Channel at present. I don’t think that I have any more of that year, but I’ll look when I get back to to the right side!

I was at the Biggin show in 1967 and have a couple of pictures of 0-17279(sorry unable to scan at present) but in both the Helter Skelter is visible a little way off the r/h wing. Cannot see it in this pic so I guess its not 1967.
It rained alot in 67, as it did every time I went, so gave up going in case I was the cause.

Mods – to save me ongoing embarrassment, perhaps you could re-title this thread “What’s this (a Globemaster)?”, please.

Scramble lists C-124C 0-20980 as being at the 1964 Biggin Hill Air Fair (9-10 May), which could make it 52-0980.
