Outer yellow Roundal is 1mm too small, and whole roundal needs to be position 0.4 cm to the right.

For those who are genuinely puzzled by Osprey’s lack of recognition skills…

They do mock up covers for all of their forthcoming books, usually created by taking the aircraft type from a previous cover and pasting it onto a generic background. In this case, they have never troubled us artists to paint a Buffalo before so the poor designer, probably on a Friday afternoon, stuck a Spitfire on the cover, switched his computer off and went down the pub…

I’ll be painting the actual cover in a couple of months’ time, just got half a dozen others to get through first…

Mark Postlethwaite
long suffering and vastly underpaid Osprey cover artist.

I did wonder, as the artwork appears over on Amazon, though to be honest I didn’t see when the book was released…

well, therein lies part of the problem… I, as a designer (having nothing to do with Osprey) actually know a few things about aviation – and have designed and produced more than a handful of aviation titles – I eagerly exit my ‘office’ for the nearby watering hole, but professionalism dictates that nothing ‘wrong’ ever goes to press from my desk.

One ‘artwork’ fits all.:)

And they both have five bladed props! the 91 Squadron book is a keeper though. Nicely done even if the XII has a 5 bladed prop on it!

Did I mention the XII has a five bladed prop on it? 🙂

That Buchon isn’t in Spanish colours:diablo: ?

Odd though, can’t see the image or book on the Osprey site but Amazon especially do show different covers (the recent Skyraider, P-36 and F4U Korean books for example) – maybe they do some artwork to show something other than a “TBC”?

I was going to mention the bit of blue “sky” between the stbd trailing edge and the fuselage, was a different colour to all the “other” sky…….
