Just a bit of fun now guys and gals, but what’d it be. There are no rules except that it actually exists (complete and capable of flight, if not actually airworthy) somewhere in the world, and that the original was built before wars end.
For me, it would be a pair of Axis aircraft taking off from Cambridge Airport (to maintain the surprise), and be brought in behind the new “Airspace Hangar”. The commentary would go….
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we’ve seen many allied aircraft in the skies over Duxford today, and until now, they’ve had free reign. But back in 1945, things could have been very different…… this could have happened”
Enter stage left… Focke Wolf 190D-9 (Champlin Collection or newbuild) and Messerschmitt 262 (Reproduction).
Your thoughts????!!!

Oops, must’ve missed this thread when it was first up and about.
Posts 32, 40 and 43 in this thread just made my day…..absolutely classic postings chaps.
Anyone else in need of something to smile about should re-read those three posts.

I don’t know, you buy 7 tons of top soil for your wifes 40th, and you never hear the end of it 🙂

Mossies, mossies, mossies!
And just for fun, how about a Lysander picking up an agent, or the RAFM Hoverfly doing it’s work?

I would actualy like to see some of the Legendary tanks drive down the flightline before the show satarts.
Where would you get them from? You have got rid of the Tank museum!
And someone please hide that damm American air museum and tank museum.
As for your ideal weather conditions!
A good safe airshow with some good weather, no crosswinds. As many Hurricanes as possible coming in from somewhere.

Lets flood the airfield!!
Lets not bring back FLOOD and in any case what about the tents ???
I would actualy like to see some of the Legendary tanks drive down the flightline before the show satarts.
How can you. The Airfield is FLOODED!
Maybe they’re Legendary Water Tanks ?????

So we have the longest one type show in the world, yep I guess that would be a crowd puller. Certainly would take all weekend for them to form up, and the tailchase would last into the next week. The video would be a hit with the insomniacs
Can’t say I saw many tents out around the flightline walk this year, maybe they were obscured by the all those annoying aircraft. Or are you referring to those display pilots who walk with light step, wear high heals and have a hand shake like a wet kipper?
That’ll put paid to the tents.
So no revenue to go towards keeping these old aircraft in the air. I suppose it would stop the freeloading as there wouldn’t be an airshow for long.
Mind the tents though.
No potential for gratis plugging of the event
While we’re doing away with the Poles and Frogs, why not the cheques as well as you advocate free entrance.
There goes the future of aviation. Though the children running around ones feet at Legends would be far more accommodating than the mop haired fool who crashed through a stall during a poignant ceremony at OW earlier this year.
How else would you distribute it, if it isn’t decanted.
What would we have to moan about if they do away with the step ladders
Lets place them on the flightline next to the tents
Well it will certainly be safe with only a couple of Catalina’s trundling around the airfield, they could hand out free packs of sparklers.
Would everyone on arrival at Duxford please take a shovel and a bucket each and start digging.
EN- Brilliant.

My favourite Legends would include all of us who participate on this forum discussing pros and cons at the Red Lion on the Saturday night. Arguments to be fuelled by unlimited quantities of lager, bitter, G&T, etc. Then a survivors party on the Sunday evening. Wonder how many would be present at the latter part… 😉
Back some twenty years ago Lofty and I sat at Duxford waiting to see the Blenheim flight tested.
We couldn’t wait, but consoled ourselves with the thought we’d see it at Fighter Meet a week or two later.
Of course we never did, shortly after the day we saw it the Blenheim joined a golf club somewhere.
What was its handicap…?

Fast forward and Blenheim #2 was nearing completion. Also in the hangar was a Beaufighter progressing in leaps and bounds.
Lofty and I had a dream then. A vic of Mosquito, Blenheim and Beaufighter opening a Legends early in the 21st Century.
Ah well, it was a good dream while it lasted.

flightline walks where you can walk right up to the aeroplanes like at Old Warden
Mind the tents though.
No press,
No potential for gratis plugging of the event
no annoying speeker poles or french commentators
While we’re doing away with the Poles and Frogs, why not the cheques as well as you advocate free entrance.
no annoying small kids running around your feet pretending to be a Spitfire

not such a damm long walk to the food stalls and toilets.
Lets place them on the flightline next to the tents
A good safe flying display with lots of pyrotechnics would be nice

Western Desert Campaign theme?
Tankbuster Hurricanes (IID’s) attacking the Afrika Corps on the ground while in the air we can have a few dogfights between 109’s and Spitfires.
Cover the whole of Duxford in sand for extra realism 😮

Dan

Now you’re talking. Bring back the Weeks Sunderland!!! Return it to military spec, and fly it with the 2 Catalinas from this years show.
