Not asking what you think was the best, only what is your favourites. Top three please.
No1 for me; Mosquito.
No2; Beaufighter
No3; Hurricane.

Interesting question, but insufficiently clear.
Favourite- in what way and for what? Prettiest, most able in role, best use of resources most versatile, fastest, whatever? Sorry but the question doesn’t make sense.
Favourite as in the one(s) you like best, seems pretty simple to me.

In my experience talking to most WW2 pilots their favourite was always the plane that managed to get them home. As a post-war pilot evrey plane that I have flown has its own interest, and not always as you might expect.
My favourite plane is therefore, in some odd way each to their own, so ALL OF THEM.

For me it would have to be an aircraft that I have actually experienced, namely the Lancaster.
There’s something very thought provoking looking up at a Lancaster both on the ground and in the air.
More so than any other aircraft.

Re 13
It is British well, at least 50% ! Some might argue more.

Hard decision, probably-
Gauntlet.
Hector.
Audax/Hart.
Did think about the Avro 504, but the later ones just don’t look right.

No-one voting for the Fairey Battle then? …
The Lysander’s pretty cool.

I once harboured a distant hope that I might see one fly again one day. But it certainly won’t happen – in my lifetime at any rate, if ever.

Hercules engined Halifax, best looking British heavy bomber of the war
Totally agree…. A MkVI with extended wingtips.
The Halibag did the job.
In every field of the conflict, and every role requiring a 4-engined aircraft.
One of the most underrated aircraft of the war. It is a crying shame so few are left.

All of them, but probably the Tempest by a whisker (and I’ve never seen one fly).
