It was such a ‘orrible day yesterday, weather wise, that i was having a tidy up and came across some aviation books that i hadnt seen in a while.
One in particular was given to me by my Dad when i was quite young and it was a book from late 1963 which is a ” a fully illustrated handbook and souvenir of an International Airport” and celebrates the recent construction and opening of Manchester Airports “new terminal building”.
I havent read it for some years and it really shocked me to see how much MAN has grown and changed since then. In those days, the main runway was 06/24 at just 7,500 feet, backed up by 02/20 and 10/28 at just over 3,200 feet each.
