Don’t forget one detail: actually, the media are concentrating on the Pope’s funeral, and the french Media will most probably also focus on the prince Rainier of Monaco till the 15th April.

The first flight of the A-380, which would undoubtely be a big media show, would then go nearly unnoticed on TV news… So that might be another reason to wait a bit, even if the plane is ready..

I doubt it.

The delays were announced weeks before either of them died. Coincidence thats all

Not exactly, and my “100% rumours being untrue” comment is perhaps an exaggeration. But I have no doubt whatsoever that many rumours predicting doom and disaster are just wishful thinking from some, or plain orchestrated malicious slur. We’ve been hearing them since the A3XX project started taking shape, from the ”it won’t go past the project board” to the ”nobody will be interested in buying it” to the (rather absurd) ”it’s too big to fly”, to the ”it will bankrupt Airbus”, to the ”airlines will pack it full of seats and it will be stuffy and horrible” … I get quite tired of it to be honest.

So far the nay-sayers and doom merchants have been proved wrong on every count- sometimes spectacularly so. I don’t doubt that there are technical obstacles to be solved- what new aircraft doesn’t experience them?- but I have every confidence they will be overcome and that the aircraft will not collapse on its landing gear, be too big or fat to fly, perform far worse than anticipated, etc etc etc ad infinitum.

Lets just wait till she’s flown 1000 hours of flight testing. Then we’ll have a better idea of what the future holds. Every new aircraft will have its nay sayers. Sometimes as many as the yay sayers.

There are just as many people predicting overwhelming success that can bee seen as absurd and unrealistic 😉

No, there have been issues.
An airbus engineer even told us so on this website

Are you seriously suggesting that a new plane, of this size and technicality will not have any issues? If so, talk about naivety.

The 1st A380, F-WWOW was towed yesterday afternoon to the “Abreuvoir” (Flight Test Apron).
The newest pic’s:

Wow, those wings are stunning! 😮

In the last pic, that’s the first time I’ve seen it next to another aircraft, in this case the sleek A346, makes you realise how ‘tubby’ it is. 😉
Also so appears to be sitting low?

Whats up with the back of the A380’s tail?

http://img127.exs.cx/img127/2148/img00080oe.jpg

Looks like the rudder is deflected. The tail is huge.

Can’t wait to see her fly, I imagine she will just wallow into the air and slowly start to climb.

Now that I’ve got my Cessna 172 rating I might see if I can get converted onto the A380…. :p
